I play in a weekly Poker League and im after some advice...

Heres the layout -

6 month league
Roughly 22 games
£12 entry
1500 starting stack with a free 1500 that you can use at any point
£5 unlitmited rebuys of 1500 chips until the first break

Blind level -

20 mins - 25/50
50/100
75/150
30 mins - 100/200
Break - end of rebuys
20 mins - 200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
1000/2000
2000/4000
4000/8000
Etc doubled

Payout -This can vary on number of players/rebuys but top 3 always gets minimum

1st £100
2nd £60
3rd £30
If there is usually more than 14 players it can go upto
1st £120
2nd £80
3rd £60
4th £20

League table and points -

2 points for coming
2 points for being there before
8-45pm

20 points for 1st
16 points for 2nd
12 points for 3rd
8 points for 4th
4 points for 5th

2 point for taking out last weeks winner

-1 point for every rebuy after your first one (10 rebuys = -9 points)

End of season estimated prizes -

1st £300
2nd £235
3rd £175
4th £130
5th £100
6th £75
7th 50
8th £35
9th £25

Top 9 end of seaon final table -

1st £250
2nd £160
3rd £110
4th £50
5th £20

So thats the workings of it all now the advice im after is what is the best way to play it?

My game this season has been to treat it a bit like a Sat, not really getting involved, only playing premium hands and thinking of the league table and points and if i hold out i can ladder up a place etc etc which has led to only one win so far this season... Saying that i am 2nd in the league by 1 point... 1st has a 22 point lead and with 2 games left unless i win both second is what im playing for. Also Out of the top 9 ive only cashed more than 9th position!

Even if i finish 2nd with the prize of £235 and what ive currently cashed it wont be more than the guy in 6th

Thoughts please?

    Hi C

I get the idea that you've realised your playing too tightly to ladder each week. Why not keep your opponents guessing with a change of in the middle period or complete change of play from week to week fom tight to LAG etc. go in to each week with a plan. Good luck

interesting heavy structure for the season compared to the indiv games
you seem to have adopted a smart strategy for it which is going well
sat strategy isn't for the win, it is for the place
with two to go and places to play for now it's up to you to decide whether you want to up gears to maximise your chances of a high payout, or continue to grind for safety
regardless you do want to be much more focussed on your league opposition, and how they are doing, particularly in the final game
you may find you have locked up a certain position, and can take a low risk gamble
