The people that were invited to the freeroll are happy ---- The people that were not invited to the freeroll are exactly as happy as they were before they knew about the freeroll ---- so anyone that has lost some happiness is problably never going to be truly happy, until they have been invited to every freeroll. and this cannot happen until they are dead ! ----- and we can't really blame sky poker for that fact.

There were 1000 prizes yet less than 200 enetred so I dont think it was overly abused, why are people moaning when every single person who enetered got at least £10 for their troubles. The only thing that this will do is for sky to not hold anymore of these and then everyone loses out, come on boys stop sulking and get playing!!

But the people that can't see the reason not to moan do have a right to moan, we can't restrict the right to moan to reasonable people can we?

As promised last night, I will try & deal with some of these questions this morning, once I've sorted some other stuff out.

The replies by TommyD & Slykllist pretty much nail it, to be honest, but I said I would reply, so I will.

Please bear with me until then.

    Thanks.

Not really sure quite how to explain this without giving offence.

In reply to numerous questions, the business replied to one such "why cant I have the password?" question last week along these lines....

"If you are entitled to play it, you will have been sent the Password".

Several people suggested this was rude, & disrespectful. It was neither, it was a simple fact, explained clearly, & not intended as rude, so I'm really going to struggle with this, but I'll do my best. It is better if I try & tell it straight, as it is.

Sky Poker do a lot of targeted Freerolls.

They are specific to certain, & different, groups of players.
Every single Online Poker site does them, always have, always will.

I dion't intend to detail the specific groups, that is commercially sensitive, but don't forget, Sky Poker is part of a wider family of sites in SB&G, & Freerolls MAY be targeted at regulars of Bet, Vegas or Bingo, as well as Poker.

They are also done as part of Promotions, Social -Media stuff (Twitter & Facebook) & a myriad of other reasons, including targeting re-activations, & specific groups of players who may play a lot, a little, or who have not played for a while. Standard Online Gaming marketing.

In fact ALL businesses do this, or pretty much. Nectar Cards in petrol stations, Tesco Club Cards, da de da, are all part of modern-day targeted promotion by vendors.

The system works very well, otherwise they would not do them.

Does everyone have a right to know what & whom these Freerolls are for?

No, sorry, they don't. This is not a Council, or the Government, spending Constituents or Taxpayers money, it is a private commercial business. It is fully entitled to spend it's money any way it wishes, as long as it is fully street legal, compliant, & not discrminatory towards race, sex, disability etc.

There are Freerolls every single day on Sky Poker, open to all. Yes, you need a few poker points to enter them, & we can debate that all day. But imagine what would happen if Poker Points were NOT needed to enter them......yup, thousands of poker players, who have never played or deposited here, & never will, would flood the site, destroying the Freeroll value for the regulars here. That makes no sense, & would be lose lose for all.

So what is the best way to deal with, & reply to, all these "what is the password please?" Threads?

Some seem to take offence to a brief, straight & honest reply, & that is not the intention, but it's hard to know how else to say these things.

The business are debating how best to resolve this.

It is likely therefore that they will decide that they will not respond to any of these threads on the Community, & if you wish to ask that question, you will need to contact Customer Care, who will give you a reasoned reply.

Any such threads will be closed.

Which brings us to the "repeatedly closed threads" matter.....

Threads do get closed rather more than I would personally like to see.

If I were King for a Day (copyright Radiohead) I would change that, I just think it is good to talk, but I don't expect to be King any time soon.

The issue, though, is one of time, & endlessly debating the same things, when, as has been pointed out hundreds of times, the correct route for Customer complaints & the like is Customer Care.

Nobody in the Business has the remit to deal with Customer Queries on the Community. Why? Because they have a Customer Care Department, & that is their job.

It is a tricky line to negotiate without upsetting anyone, it really is. Which sort of begs the question.......have you ever wondered why other Online Poker Sites do not have in-house Communities or Forums? There IS a good reason!

    Passwords.

If players have a Private Password & pass it on to others, it is.....regrettable.

What that does is destroy value for everyone in the Freeroll. It does not cost the Business a penny, but it causes bad blood, as we saw last night.

If, say, there is a £20 Freeroll limited to 20 players, that equates to £1 per player.

If Fred, who is entitled to play it, tells his mate the Password, then his mate tells his two mates, & so on, soon there are 40 in the Freeroll, & the value per head is now ten bob. So Fred has lost ten bob, which is just daft when you think about it, & affects EVERYONE in that Freeroll, so it is, arguably, a little selfish, & is hardly likely to make yourself popular. The Business is looking at ways to stop this happening in future.

Is there some form of censure or penalty for doing this? Not really, not at present, the legalities are far-reaching, so that is more Management & Legal resource tied up finding a way to prevent it, & penalise those who abuse the sysyem. I imagine a solution will be found, though.

I hope that has answered most of the questions that arose, & that it does not cause offence to anyone. It was not intended to. But you did ask, & so I answered.

My old Nan used to say be careful what you wish for.

    ;)

    Thank you.

Well that is one answer, yes, but would it not be better if people did not abuse the system in the first place? The problem disappears then.

I'm not actually sure that, legally, the Business CAN withhold such monies at present, you know how it is these days with sense of entitlement in a lititagious society.

yes that would be the answer, but u will always get some that abuse the system, even if its a few it causes resentment among others, and things blow up over something that is so silly in relevence to life, but saying that its the princable of the matter, imo just greed on behalf of some players to abuse this system.

Pretty much agree with every word, but especially the enboldened part.

Hard to believe folks get so het up about these things when there are far more important things in life to worry about, such as the difference between......

As a suggestion why not just autiomatically enter those eligable, thus then they wouldn't know the password to share anyways, it could run much like the top of the posts promotion.

This would also mean it was a locked tournament - thus even if somehow a password that was correct did get leaked, it wouldn't be useable anyways

......because quite often, a large % of eligible players do not actually turn up & play Freerolls.

    And then what happens?

THE most bizarre thing. People complain that half the seats on their Table are "AWAY".

Don't ask me to explain that, because I simply cant.

If 40 players are eligible, & only 10 enter, then I'd be chuffed to bits. The £1 per head Freeroll example I used earlier is now a £4 per head Freeroll. What's not to like?

As I get older, I understand stuff less & less.

The solution to this is pretty obv.......

    1) Ban freerolls.
    2) Close forum.
    3) Delete facebook from tinternet

    ^^^ sort it out sky!

Some people will always find something to complian about Tikay.  Sometimes they'll complain about a thing so much it gets changed and then they'll complain about the thing they asked for it to be changed to.  As long as you keep giving them something to complain about, they'll be happy complaining so just leave them to it!

As for a solution the freeroll issue - TOKENS that appear in the players account and must be activated, or even just a simple link in the e-mail that needs to be authorised to trigger entry to the tournament, SIMPLES!

and yes.... I know this is probably a lot more problematic to implement than I just made it sound :)

I am pretty sure the priority freeroll is not a password but locked to those eligible to play. Why not do the same here.Send e-mails to eligible players if they want to play they play if not they don't only those on the list can reg.
