I loved this tourny stated that many times was such a good laugh but if the suits have decided to stop it really think we should respect that, theres still the tko going on and im sure in the new year there will be more kind gestures from them.
As far as people posting just to get in it, the first week yeah maybe there was a couple who went a little post crazy, but after that I dont believe there was.
People were psoting +1 after posts and answering posts with 1 or 2 words long before this came along.
Its already been said but the money didnt matter to msot who took part, yeah nobody was gonig to turn there nose up at £75 if they won it, but it was all about friends getting together and having a goodlaugh whilst playing cards. its been mentioned on another thread about keeping the tournament but taking away the prize money, I tihnk this shows what people loved about it.
yes , the one real bonus of this tournament is that it's the REAL community from the forum getting together for a game of poker being played it the way LIVE poker gets played, with friends and conversation amongst nearly all who play in it So good to have been a part of this game ... glk all benny
I AM IN A CONTROVERSIAL MOOD TODAY . I DISAGREE WITH THE LOT OF YOU . SCRAP THE POSTERS FREE ROLL FOR GOOD AND BRING IN A NEW CONCEPT . I SUGGEST A £5.000 FREE ROLL AND ONLY REALLY STUPID POSTS LIKE THIS ONE COUNT .
As it's a freeroll there would have been a dedicated amount of marketing spend which by all accounts has already gone £1250 over what was originally allocated so i don't hink they will bring it back for good. It has been a good little incetive to the forum though and was a lot better than 99.9% of freerolls anywhere
I am another one that will agree that the Posters free roll was a very good thing but why should Sky keep it going after the promotion money has been spent. Sky Rich managed to keep it going for an extra four weeks but all good things must come to an end.
Sky Rich has already said that there could be other promotional game in the near future and he is someone that the forum believes and trusts.
After the first couple of weeks of inane one word posts, the forum returned to normal and most of the people that usually posted are still doing so at regular intervals.
I have noticed that the number of post and threads this week is more than ever and there is no more Posters free roll as an incentive to make prople post their comments, This just goes to prove that the community is still thriving.
the money on offer in the posters freeroll was for me, and i'm sure many others, irrelevant.
the posters freeroll gave 50 or so of us, of a wide range of abilities meaning we would rarely play on the same tables, the chance to play together for one game during the week. The chat in this game was brilliant because it was with people who had contributed together to threads in the forum during the week.
Normally when i play a game of poker, and someone asks how i got on i say something along the lines of "i came ?th out of ?, and won £? or didnt win." But last night, when my partner asked me about the posters freeroll I didnt mention where I came. I simply said, i'd had a good laugh, chatting with other players i think of as friends rather than online strangers, and enjoyed it. The result just wasnt relevant, because that wasnt the point of the freeroll. And anyone that played in them will tell you the same. if they cashed, that was a bonus, but it wasnt why they were playing it.
So i add my name to the list. The promo money for a posters freeroll may be spent, but it doesnt matter because the posters freeroll doesnt need money. Its the game that is the real prize.
Could there be a point in the tourney continuing for the top 50 posters each week but without the prize pool?
If the money is irrelevant (as many of the players here have stated) would people be prepared to play 'just for fun'. Top 50 posters are invited to play and if they dont want to, they can simply deregister. If its all for the banter and Sky are stopping it cos its a money issue would people be prepared to play for free?
well guys i dont agree .. rather than see a freeroll for spongers id rather see a smaller rake on the site .. imo im sorry if a lot of people rely on freerolls but posters freeroll just means people post with nothing constructive to say , just emphisise on getting in the freeroll !!!!
I agree with ray--we dont play in to win--I got out in 20th just so I could look in the lobby and see myself underneath borobabe--brilliant result---ner ner na ner ner!

I can guarantee that the players in this freeroll don't "rely" on freeroll money.
Entrants in this were there as a laugh and the money on offer was a perk if you picked some up. This is for the people who contribute most to the forum.
Sure there was some one liners that were counted within the posts but if you check the contributions of each of the posters in it you'll find the majority giving advice in stratagy sections, others helping with questions about site rules, forum rules, others that help advertise specific events and all of them are in numerous TKO threads as part of the community.
With only 3 posts to your name it's a bit of a liberty to come on and tell people they are spongers because they enjoyed a community based incentiive ????
It's not about the money, like Ray an Benny both said it was more along the lines of a get together an a catch up but without jeremy kyle, coffee & biscuits in the equation!!
how about we keep the tourney but call it another name like " The Forum Champion's Challenge Cup " no prize money just bragging rights for the week! with a little picture of a little gold cup on the winners avatar??
i mentioned this in another thread but how about you all enter the forum deepstack (Tuesday 7.30). it always has a small field so if you all entered it would very much be the forum deepstack
In Response to Re: petition for postes freeroll to survive!! : the same names , clarify you saying all 51 players, last nite , were posting all week, to get on a freeroll . Posted by IRISHROVER
No, not all the same player's obviously. But most people on this forum know there are certain people who add short, pointless post's, just to get their count up. I have played two of the freeroll's, and really enjoyed them, but I'm not prepared to reply to post's with one liner's just to get into a freeroll, but some people do.
If people want this so much, why not make a tourny which is only available for the top 60 posters in the forums?
Like any other tourny it will have a buy in, £5 + 50 probably, but a condition of entry is that you have been within the top so many users of the forum the previous week?
If people want it so bad, they will enter it.
Have a vote for the buy in....2 quid 3 quid whatever....
Just an idea - haven't read through the whole thread so sorry if sum1 has suggested this already! DOHH

Rich, are you on some sort of bonus incentive based on getting increased numbers into the forum deepstack . it's not a bad idea, although its a tue rather than a wed, so i dont know how that would affect each individuals ability to play.
How much is this tournament to enter?, as I would consider playing if it was only a couple of quid.
The only problem is that no matter how many of us played this tournament, I dont think it would be quite the same as a dedicated posters freeroll. But I'd be interested in others thoughts...
I say good riddance, might stop all the pointless post's and reply's by certain people, who are so desperate to get into a freeroll they will reply with oneliner's to anything, that's why the same name's were on the list every week, sad. Posted by chirker
