Does anyone here think Sharkscope should be user choice Opt-in? Maybe some people would just like to keep their poker habits private?

I didn't realise you could opt out untill I saw a post on here suggesting anyone who opt's out is a losing player. I Opt'd out after reading that post just because I could.

Here is the link for anyone that wants to opt out, its free and your stats are hidden from all.

Why do Sky supply information to Sharkscope (or at the very least let Sharkscope mine Sky result data)?

Most sites do, I think 888 recently stopped giving the data over though.

Isn't it a breach of data protection to pass this information on to a third party site?

Yep. Its all public information. Anyone could do what sharkscope do if they spent the time doing it all manually and were sad enough.

    Nope.

Aliases are used and are picked up by SS.

So, what's the difference between Sky refusing to tell us how many points people are on during Rake Races as that would breach Data Protection, to them passing similar information about tournaments to Sharkscope?

It's hard to stop people recording and selling results of games that are played out in a public arena. As I understand it Sharkscope mine the data, Sky don't pass anything on or get paid.

How far do you take it? Should my tournament results thread be removed too?

As the OP says, and most people are aware, everybody has the option to have their results made private on Sharkscope if they so wish, I have no problem with its existence and the auto opt-in policy.

On certain days it should Gary, these days are when Tommy does well and I don't!

If you are bothered by sharkscope you opt out, I believe most people aren't that fussed by it or they would just opt out.
