Some really good threads that could have been of interest to many on the forum have been closed recently.
Therefore denying people the opportunity to have their say.
Who knows? There may even have been some valuable contributions made. We'll never know now.

Do we really have to close threads the moment a mod or someone from Sky doesn't like a post.
Forgive me if this already happens but surely as a first step, couldn't the offending poster be contacted and asked to edit or remove their posts.
Surely this would be better than simply shutting down an entire thread due to one comment.

When this is closed and my resultant new thread asking why the thread about closing threads has been closed, whos going to be next to open a thread asking why my thread that complained about the closure of the thread that complained about threads being closed, was closed?

for what its worth i commented in a closed thread and sky gave me a nice pm explaining why and their position.

I have taken that as enough clarification. Amazingly it does fall in with the forum guide lines. I know even i was abit confuised till i realised that.

    JHope that helps.

I imagine if the persons thread who complained about a thread being closed about another thread being closed, was closed, then another thread detailing the annoyance of another thread being closed, purely based on another thread being closed about the initial thread being closed will be set up.

    But by who?  Na dunno.

    Hi Jac

We don't just close threads because we feel like it, there's always a genuine reason - like here, and from time to time, we need to moderate things for the benefit of the community overall. We try to contact people who have posted, like Don said, to explain too.

Also, we can't always discuss the reasons (we do try when we can). We have a forum for many reasons, not least because it allows us to have some great discussions and to collect feedback. If we didn't want that, we wouldn't have this forum.

We're clear and open about this and set our forum rules out clearly. Oh, and I'm sure people will see the irony, we are going to close this thread too as we'll end up going round in circles as some of the other posts on this thread have inferred.

    Thanks
