my reading of the villain was his bets were either representing a very good hand or he was holding total air.
with this flop being a paired board it was still hard to tell i decided to call because he did say in the chat box i play
like a callstaion sometime and should be raising also i did catch him out with KQ a few hands earlier  when he thought i had Ax.
the biggest part that got me to call but was with the flop being 773 i expect a lot of pairs to do a cbet and with me having position i know   how he feels about the turn card if he saw it.

    You don't have position Craig.

I've gotta say, as an outsider with no idea of table dynamic, this looks pretty poor play. What do you do on the turn if it's the 2d and he bets again? Double float out of position with A high? Are you planning on just calling down with A high?

Not sure how we made it to the river, but we should ship the rest in here all day long.

    face the facts
this table was a MS table not a nl4p
nl4 is passive nitty villians who hardly ever do bets.

things will change as the months pass and i get more use to the aggressive play

I don't think there would be too much wrong with calling IDONK down with just Ace-high here. From the hands he's posted on other threads, IDONK could easily be holding random air hands and this board isn't exactly super-wet. It would be quite easy for our Ace to be best.

That of course depends on whether we think IDONK barrels multiple streets with just a bluff, which will itself depend on what he's seen us call down with and the boards we've given up on. If we've check-folded every time we've missed and called or raised when we've hit, he's unlikely to keep barrelling with air.

So I don't think there's owt wrong with the call on the flop, assuming you believe you have the best hand a fair proportion of the time. You're going to face some tough decisions on later streets but we mustn't be afraid of tough decisions.

I tend to think that if we're planning to check-fold a flop like 377 then we shouldn't be calling the 3-bet pre-flop. We can't just be calling to hit and give up every time we don't if we want to avoid haemorrhaging money OOP to decent opponents.

At the time, I didn't know who the villain was BL, as it was * out in the initial post. I wasn't saying that calling down OOP with A high was bad (this is obviously villain dependent), but vs a random reg, I'm not sure it's the best line to take.

Now we know it's IDCU, we just call down for value ;)
