The river, the turn, the flop.. makes no difference. A large part of poker is LUCK (or Variance if you want to use the posh lingo). Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes against. You can't control that element of the game, but it's one of the things that makes the game so much fun.

That would be a cool game though.  Once every torunament a player can "STOP THE RIVER" and the winning hand at the turn takes it down 

How cool would that be ;o)

got rivered last nite and its one of the painfullest ones yet due to my stack and was on my way to my biggest ever cash in an mtt, im 3/10 in mtt on another site, 5k up top, i 4bet AK from the sb, button calls, flop - A 4 7, I bet button calls turn is another 4, i bet out again and he jams, i snap him off and he turns over A9, river card to come......................9. coulda fired the computer threw the window at the time but i sat back and thought about the previous times in the tournament when i rivered somebody else and you just have to suck it up and accept that sometimes it runs for you and sometimes it doesnt. no good having a selective memory.

Ahhh good times. Aint heard them for yonks, I remember I was about 13-14 (I think) when Moseley Shoals came out and I just listened to it non stop.

FWIW though OP... do you still wanna stop the river when you get it in with 2 overs + FD and the river completes your flush

Happen to me to last night on anouther site raised pre flop with qq and got re raise from villian so i 4 bet to about 700 flop came 7k 3  i led out to 1900  when villan flat calls he then shoves on the turn which was anouther k  i thought worst way hes got the k  but had to much in to fold he turns the  7 5 of spades and rivers anouther 7 lol

Good point Lambert - I always wondered why I'm not the one deemed worthy of selection. If we all kept a tally of the hands we have been rivered and have rivered someone else, even after a week, we would see the numbers are fairly even.

But poker amnesia doesn't work that way.
