scary turn card on what is a very wet board i hold TPTK

it is the very early stages of the semi for the main event and i don't know much about the villian.
the main hands that i had him on at the time was 89 a middle pair the flush or two overcards.

is it worth making a small bet on the turn knowing that the draws overcards which don't hold a spade and middle pairs are likely to now just fold or should i just check the turn and just accept defeat if they tried the bluff on the river.

    Go a bit bigger on the flop.

    Bet the turn, fold to a raise

    Gotta accept that many villains in this spot will just call - regardless of whether they hold 2nd pair, a made flush - or a draw to nut flush.

    So assuming that is the case...

    Spade on river shut down.

    Brick on river bet for value.
