All For a Good Cause...

Hi folks,

At 11am on Saturday the 14th of December, Larson7 and I will begin a 24-hour online poker marathon, here on Sky. Not because we enjoy the game (although we do), or because we’re silly (although we probably are), but for the good people at Cancer Research UK. This disease will unfortunately touch most of us in one way or another, at some point in our lives, and some of you may even be dealing with it right now. It is however, a disease we can beat, but we can only do so with your help.

We will be sitting at a 2p/4p table for the duration of this challenge and would like to encourage others to join us on the felt – to play a few hands, or even just to offer encouragement from the rail and make sure we stay awake! Afterwards, we will probably both be so sick of getting it in good and being sucked out on, that neither of us will want to see another poker hand for a while, so it may be some time before you see either of us back on the tables!

I have set up a JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/pokerthon, for anyone who wishes to contribute to the cause, or if you just want to be nosey and see how we are currently doing against our target. Ambitious? Sure. But it’s amazing what you can achieve with threats of violence and blackmail :)

As well as the money we hope to raise via family/friends/etc, we hope to be able to count on the full support of the community here at Sky Poker. We both understand and acknowledge that this is the run up to Christmas, and that money is particularly tight at this time of year, but we would very much appreciate whatever you could spare for this worthy cause. Bink a cash in a tournament? Maybe you could throw us a few quid. Win a big pot at your high stakes table? One percent ought to cover it. Take down the SPT in Nottingham? Well, perhaps you could chuck us a fifty.

For those of you who do wish to contribute, thank you very much. These things are so much easier with people like you.

Thanks for reading, and good luck on the tables.

Brian and Kev

Think of all the C4P you'll get ;)

Great idea, great cause. I shall pop in and play a bit in the evening, and wing some monies via the just giving page.

    Well done chaps.

    Best of luck chaps.

Not that it matters, but the justgiving page suggests you will be playing 2p4p 'head to head' for 24 hours?

    U don't mean HU do u?

Standard session for me.  I'd have joined you guys but have footy that day.  If it's off due to bad weather I'll come and join you.  I'll also give 50% of my profits to your page while you guys are online.

    Thanks guys.

The idea was to hijack a table and let others come and go as they please, so no, not just the two of us.

If that were the case, Larson's pockets would be empty fairly soon ;)

DTM - that's fantastic. Thanks very much.

    Top lads.

I'm in work all weekend, will try to join in for a few hands when I finish.

I'll send today's poker profits as a donation. Only a few quid but it all helps innit.

    Cheers,
    TEDDY

Gl Guys.  Donated for a very worthwhile cause.

Are you donating what profits you get from these 2p/4p tables?  (if there is a profit ;))

I'll double my donation if one of you ends up leaving the 2p/4p tables with £50 or more.  Gives you a target to get to over the 24 hours ;)

GL - As its a few weeks off I have some time to win some money to donate.

I'll pledge 10% of my 200 game STT challenge profits - or a tenner whichever is largest.
