THIS IS MAD!

I had top pair on the flop but folded purely because I figured someone would have a J with better kicker, or two pair, or the straight - no question really, but this hand is mad!

It was a six-max speed game.

Don't 4x any hand with these stack sizes. We should be getting it in on the flop imo, DYM or not.

i understand the mistake with the 4x that i did preflop, what i was thinking is if i min raised they would just call but what i should have been thinking is if the short stack still decided to do the shove and the person with the large stack decided to call then i would not have wasted so many chips and could just fold preflop or just fold preflop rather than do any raise.

Agree with not 4x'ing. I either 2x or 3x depending on the notes I have on the other player and the blind levels.

Not sure about getting it in on the flop TBH. There is a lot of play to be had with 1000 chips really, especially at the early levels.

@Peter, Craig's hand isn't the early stages though, this is vvvv easy get it in imo. It's 75/150 and on the flop he has less than 8xBB and MIDDLE SET. If anything, even more so in a DYM, we wanna lock up the big pot now if villian doesn't wanna gamble with a FD etc. because taking it down now probably guarantees us a seat with nadine on 400 chips (and the all-in player almost certainly beat). You're gonna feel pretty stupid when you're just sat there letting him bet 150 into 3000, didn't raise with your set and then he shows you 2 spades (or 1 by the river).

As an aisde, villian might even fold KK in this spot as he doesn't need to take any risks and we should never be bluffing with our stack size, and the ace is out there, he's obviously not confident in his hand or he wouldn't minbet 3 streets. Now we don't want people to fold when they have 2 outs to catch up but just saying :p

The funny thing is.... on the flop KK has a 5% chance of hitting another King on the turn, and if he misses, 5% chance again of hitting a King on the river. And he's bet 150 into 3000 which is 5% of the pot!! So we're actually letting him draw to a 2outer with the correct price!! Not good lol.

@Craig, the that's a flaw in your thinking. If you just minraise, someone will call... even though it's a DYM that's good. We have the 4th best possible starting hand and almost certainly have them crushed, why would we not want them to call? All we do is put ourselves in a situation where people think you have a strong hand and are never folding so you probably make them fold everything like AJ etc and get action from QQ+ and maybe AK.

Also we don't need to be minraise/folding JJ with these stacks, I know everyone is obsessed with being an enormous nit in DYMs but you can take it too far. Obviously if the person that reships is VERY VERY tight, then raise/calling probably isnt great but with how short Shane is, we just gotta call it off imo.

In the JJ hand I would be minraising pre with 2 short stacks at the table, we want one of them all-in or pot committed pre-flop.

As played the post flop play is very annoying, but it does seem to happen a lot, with a lack of understanding of DYM strategy from the large stack. With the opportunity to bust out 1 shortie and another even shorter stack at the table standard play would be for you both to check down to showdown unless one of you has "the goods" to guarantee taking out shortie.

The min bet lead out from BB is a terrible play. I would just shove over the top - The only hand the BB should then call you with is AA given the state of the game.

Fair point about it not being early stages, I missed that. Although I do have a lot of experience with DYM's now and I do feel like it is okay to go as low as 4-5 BB before shoving as you're trying to reach the top three, not win.
