it is happening more and more frequently I do a jam and boom what was he holding a pair so yet again I start regretting what I did.

as I have 15+BB and both their chip stacks are larger should I just make the call preflop if a villain is the passive or sneaky type

Never call. Jam or fold, and I'm jamming all day unless I have either of them tagged as very nitty.

This is a tactic that you might want to start implementing in your own game Craig, seeing as you seem to enjoy having a bash at tourneys.

99 is perhaps towards the bottom of that range for call trapping, but not automatically 3betting strong hands when you have >20bb stacks behind you to act can occasionally work a treat if you think you can induce something...

As others say above, shouldn't be calling here. Would be shipping pre vs most people on Sky.

a call would be to hit a set, and for that the effective stack size would need to be over 40,000, whereas you have half that. hence why you never call there - shove or fold

Lol I don't think we quite need 40,000 to peel here. You don't have to hit a set to win the hand. Pairs are hard. But yeah jam here

Don't be results orientated Craig, your play was fine.
