UKOPS IX Day 3 - Sunday's live show with James & Jen (***OFFICIAL THREAD**)

On the third day of UKOPS, my true love gave to me...

Five hours of TV
Four-ty thousand quid
Three camera angles
Two average hosts
And a sofa in front of a Christmas tree!


Seasons greetings and all that jazz. Tonight, Jen Mason and I will continue the UKOPS party with the biggest game of the four-day festival:


You can buy in directly for £110, or go down the tried and tested satellite route. Sky Poker's Laura Cornelius and Ross Jarvis will be playing. We'll follow their progress in the tournament. And, if you'd like us to feature some of your hands, please get in touch.

Most of tonight's live show on 861 will be dedicated to the UKOPS IX Main Event (did I mention it has a £40,000 guarantee?!?), with a bit of Master Cash action on the side. And, for the first hour, between 7 and 8pm, we'll watch the final table of yesterday's £15k Rebuy.

On Friday, Laura asked you, "Who do you think was the best poker player of 2013?" Well, this evening, it's crystal ball time. Jen and I would like to know:

Who do you think will be a breakout player in 2014?

Maybe there's a member of the Sky Poker community you're expecting to crush at the UKPC in February? Now, I'm not guaranteeing anything, but, because this is a special broadcast for me (sob), I may award a few spot prizes for strong contributions to tonight's show.     I'm sad to see you go, James. You're a great professional and have been a fantastic ambassador for 861 over the years. Are you going to make it to the UKPC in February? I will buy you a few minutes with one of those lovely massage girls in DTD :)

    I'm sure that all the sky poker community wish you well in your future endevours James.  As a leaving gift I hope the Sky Poker team have got you a hanged monkey as a memento of your time here.

    Did you know that on the 5th day of Christmas, Gollum goes absolutly mental?

    My breakout player of the next year is Lambert180.  He is easily the most improved cash player over the last 12 months and I have a feeling that 2014 is going to be the year that he starts crushing MTT's as well.  I expect at least one main and mini jackpot win from him this year as well as a big live score too.

    Run well all and remeber to get your truth or bluff entries in before the year ends

    My prediction is:-  Orford will take down the UKPC, then follow Hartigan to the Dark Side !!!!

    Cheers for the mention Cenachav, I definitely think 2014 is gonna be a big year for me in poker.

    It is a real shame to see you go James but I'm sure you'll have a whale of a time on the EPT circuit (and related jive). As you're 'partners in crime' does this mean Stapes will also not be doing any more shows for 861?

    Break out player of 2014... well he's already 'broken out' but I think 2014 will be the year of Ryan Spittle's BIG break out onto the world live circuit. This will be the year where we see even more big big scores from Scotty as he plays more EPTs, WPTs etc imo.

    I'm in for the full lot of UKOPS tonight btw, my first day back pokering for almost a week. GL everyone playing and fingers crossed I can finish 2013 with a bang :)

    UKOPS MAIN EVENT! ARGHHHHH!!!

    It's gonna be totes amazeballs. I'm in and I'll be updating you on my progress on the live show tonight. You'll be glad to know I was up at 7am to watch last nights UFC - the biggest show if the year, it was incredible - and I had 5 beers already to wash it down. Currently drinking coffee so that my UKOPS play will be less...'sporadic'...

    Best wishes for the future James

    When I started watching channel 865 there were three regular presenters (James, Richard Orford & LML) with three regular analysts (Tikay, Ed Giddins & Trevor Harris). Now only Orford & Tikay will be left, is it because they are either invaluable to Sky or because no-one else will have them?

    At least we've got this opportunity to say our thank yous and goodbyes, most others seem to have drifted off the station and we've not known about their departure until after they're gone!


    Oh, and one more rapped hand analysis before it's all over, please?

    Just qualified for the main event tonight, and am also in the challenger event! A very big evening for me given my bank roll, bring it on!!

    Have a great last show James, you'll be missed by everyone on the Sky community! Now that you won't be presenting here anymore, we do expect you to play more events on the site ;-)

    Hi James  & Jen
    You asked about a player for next year.  I feel Ryan Spittles is one to watch, he is doing really well and gaining loads of confidence.

    I also wanted to say that we will really, really miss you on Sky Poker but, will continue to keep up with you commentating with Joe.

    Good luck and hope everything goes really well for you in the future.

    Good luck to you James in 2014.  My most treasured memory of James is when he interviewed me at DTD just after my win in the WSOP main event in 2010.  Will never forget you James.
