What Do You Want From Your 2014?

edited January 2014 in Poker Chat
I've seen one of these threads every year that I can remember on Sky and no1 has done one yet so I thought I would. I can't find last year's one to bump it but would be nice to see if anyone can find it and people can have a look if they managed to meet any of their goals. I'm pretty sure I failed miserably in pretty much all of my 2013 goals.

So what are you goals for 2014, whether it's poker or life related?

Will post mine in a new post

Just a few targets for me to achieve by the end of this year but they're big enough to keep me very busy...

    1) Be a 100NL reg
    2) Adopt a much better approach to the game mentally... much less tilt (don't think anyone can cut it out 100%), much less worrying about other people's results, less moaning about 'bad' players, less thinking good results are all thanks to my own skill and bad results are all thanks to bad luck.
    3) Dedicate 6-8 hours per week on studying/improving my game.

    Well my 2013 goals were...

    1) Win a main on sky.  2nd this year.  One more place and im there.  Check
    2) Love rancids comment - stop calling to confirm reads.  WHY DO I DO IT? Nope
    3) Sort out BR.  Nope
    4) Dont play when tilted - playing angry is not good.  Nope
    5) Make sure I never take it too seriously.  Poker is a game and should be enjoyed.  Sometimes I can forget that  Kinda
    6) Play a live event - I have never played one.  Rookie eh?!  Check

    2014 goals.

    1)  Win two mains ;)
    2)  Go and play another SPT.
    3)  Play more live poker (whether cash or tournaments)
    4)  Practise winning flips.

I set myself two poker-related goals for 2014:

    1) Score a four-figure cash on Sky Poker
    2) Attend at least one SPT - will be the first live poker I've ever played!

I should probably add these to my diary actually :p

    2013 re-cap

1, Play less, enjoy it more. - Probably failed on both counts
2, Win an 8pm Main Event on Sky - Failed, best was a 2nd in the Primo
3, Make it to Vegas for the WSOP - Massive FAIL
4, Play a UKIPT event - Yet another fail
5, I'll steal one of Julians too - fitter, healthier and more productive - fitter fail, healthier definite improvement, more productive success
6, Spend more time with my wife and family - Small success

    2014 Goals -
    From my diary thread:

Play no more than 5 MTT's in a single session online
Play NO HU sng's above my current bankroll
NEVER drink alcohol whilst playing online
Play more Main Events on Sky
Win a Sky 8pm Main Event

    Play more live poker
Play as many SPT's as possible

    In an ideal world…….
Play either a UKIPT or EPT event
Hopefully play at least one poker festival outside of the UK

Lose at least 2 Stone in weight
Ride at least one Track League event in 2014 (this is a cycling thing which I have convinced myself I am no longer able to do for the last 6 years)

    1. To make more poker profit than 2013.
    2. To go to Brazil for the World Cup. I have the money saved for this it's just finding someone to go with as the two lads I had planned to go with seem to have bailed.
    3. Try and get one 'massive' score on Sky. I deem massive anything upwards of £250 or a prize with a cash equivalent of that sort of level.
    4. Become a better footballer at local level and increase my goal tally for the current season which currently stands at 8!

Just one aim - build up to a £10 STT winning regular.

Will start a new diary when I complete my £1 STT challenge, but that is where I aim to be before year end, while...

    1. Maintaining good BRM
    2. Enjoying it
    3. Keeping it real and honest thru a diary.

By winning I mean a +ve ROI on my £10 entries over a run of 100+ tournaments.

    2013 GOALS

1 -  to get gold star on sharkscope for scheduled games, my silver one is getting boring :-) was going ok up until
august and i was in the top 10 on the leaderboard then i just got completely fed up with sky poker and had
about 2 1/2 months away from the site, came back in november but couldnt get any momentum going so
          FAIL for this one

2 - make £20k total profit from MTT'S across various sites, made £16.8k, still happy but coulda put miles more
volume in and got there but im quite lazy so FAIL agian.

3 - play my first live event - FAIL ( deffo next year though )

4 - final table a major like the wcoop, ftops, or a ukops etc. managed to win a ukops side event so im giving mysel
         a PASS for this goal.

    2014 goals

just the same really, im never going to be the next phil ivey so i no my limits, aslong as im making a yearly profit then im more than happy. good look people for 2014 and may the poker gods be with you!!!

Id like to ammend my goal to: stop getting stacked by oban in DTD tournies.

    Small steps and all that...

To stop being such a bankroll nit and play some 10 & 20nl (but when sober this time, not like new years eve)

To be successful at the above drop down to 2 tables temporarily and actually learn how to play poker rather than just nitting it up. Which will be uber exploitable at 20nl and above

    My 2014 Goals are:

To keep learning and post more hands and get feedback (Always get good feedback from the rock ty)

    To play 1000 games at 3.30 and 5.50 DYMs and have a ROI of 4 - 5%

To play a few more Main events on sky and perhaps another final table (2013 came 6th in Turbo Tue)

On another site win a few more MTTs (I won a couple of big ones in 2013 and came close to my first 4 figure score)

Try cash, I have dabbled in it and don't know if its for me, but what's the harm trying 4nl now and again.

PS. try live for first time if sky come back to Dublin I will try and qualify

    Poker goals:

To win all UKOPS events,  the UKPC main and all SPT's I play in. Optimistic?  Perhaps,  but it's goals nonetheless and whose to say it can't be done.

To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.
