Free-roll success

Hi all, I've recently joined the Sky Poker setup and have only been playing free-rolls about 3 a day normally and yesturday it was my ninth. It was 12am so thought I'd play a bit loose as I can watch the Club at half past, got busy early on and went down to 480 chips thinking I'll be out in around 15 minutes. But amazingly I got a few double up's and got back to 15oo chips then progressed further and amined to get in the top 100.

After the first 45 minutes I'm normally out but this time I was fairly comfortable so decided to tighten up and get deeper, soon after I got some very good double ups and got to around 1st - 3rd out of the remaining field. Once I got into the money i was pretty chuffed but then got furtherstrokes of luck and ended up on the final table. by this time it was around 1:30 in the morning so I was knackered and ended up going out in 6th.

What I want to know is would you say this is a good accomplishment for a beginner considering there were 392 runners ? Also for any other new players I basically played extremely tight Betting heavily with strong hands and Pushing with the top 4-5 hands, and folding around 75-80% of hands.

    Wll done Dude!

With that playing style, more success wll come your way very soon.

Variance is a bit of a beast, even to good players, but over time you should be a profitable player with that style.

Excellent result, well played. You came 6/392 which is good in anyone's book.
Next time you make the final table, don't feel that 'you've made it'. Keep your concentration going as most the money comes for the first 3 places.
But be warned! That was a freeroll. There are several MTT specialists on this site who you want to avoid in the cash tourneys. You'll get to know them - steer well clear till you have more experience. If you always fold 75-80% of hands on a 6-seater in a fast-blind tournament, they'll get you.

    Well done and Good luck.

TBH, I probably would have laddered further but it was almost 2am so feeling the strain, but also I agree loosening up a bit more at that stage is a good tactic.

Cheers for the replies guys. :)
