Got to love Omaha. I played a game last night and got it all in pre on the bubble of a DYM and oppo was drawing dead . I had AAQJ ddss and they had KKKK! What a game, not even a need for a sweat.

Now, what I know about Omaha you can write on the back of a gnat's nethers, but what on earth was the other guy doing going all-in with four kings?
He was playing like, well, how can I put this politely.....
I can't.
I won't comment on their play other to say I did search high and low for them after the game finished to see if they were sat anywhere else where I could join in
omaha is the only game that I keep losing at but still enjoy it just wish I was better at it some1 please coach me(cough cough simon) Posted by liamboi11
I'm very much still learning m8 but do really enjoy it.
In Response to Re: Omaha, what a game : Admittedly I haven't played much PLO, but is this the first (of probably many) April fools day gag on the forum this year? How can you fold quads in any game, nevermind pre flop? Ok someone could have AAAA and I know post flop straight flushes are reasonably common in omaha but stll to say it is an auto fold is abit ott? No1 else has commented on the post so I've probably just been done hook line n sinker Posted by DOHHHHHHH
No April fool. In Omaha your 4 cards make 6 possible starting hands as your best 5 need to include 2 from your hand and 3 of the community cards. KKKK in your hand means you have 6 starting hands, all KK. As I already had AA and he couldn't improve his KK he was dead pre flop.
Interesting game. It's thought of as a drawing game but you can be drawing dead pre, unlike NLH when you always have a slight chance

To be fair an opponent drawing dead pre is pretty rare (as in the case above). One of the most interesting (and frustrating) things I find is that even when you seem to have an opponent completely dominated, like top pair and nut flush draw v bottom pair and worse flush draw when all the money goes in, they will often find a way to win, in this case by rivering 2 pair!
As prev stated '4 of a kind' is an auto fold pre, so is '3 of a kind' normally.

Incred! Very rare to see that, too. Therer are not many playable situatiions in Omaha where we are drawing dead pre-flop.
During the Sky Poker UKPC Omaha, during the "cash bubble" period, it was folded to me in the Small Blind, & I looked down to see I had been dealt A-K-K-K. Effectively, I had A-K & K-K, plus the flush draws, so it was actually quite playable heads-up. But it just felt really bad, youi can get in so much trouble with a hand that has so little scope for improvement, and in Omaha, I loathe playing oop, so I decided to just fold it.
I showed the BB my "super-tight" fold. He said "good fold, look at these" & showed me A-A-A-K.
I don't recall ever seeing such a match up before - between us, we had been dealt all the Aces & Kings.
Naturally, the table comedian then piped up "I folded an ace too". He's the same chap who, on a flop of 9-9-9, always says "call the police", & when someone shows his tabvle neighbour a card from his hand, he pipes up with "show one, show all".

Yup.
K-K-K-K is one pair, & it has absolutely no possible way of improving. One pair in Omaha is pants.

I can be a bit peppery in the mornings.
And so please add to the list.
I'll pay you off
Big blind special
I put you on AK
Anyone who says raise when they're first to act after the flop.
A lady at Derby always shouts 'seat open' a millisecond after someone is knocked out
'Close' when for example there is a flip 77 v AK and a Q comes down
And when you've just lost that flip, a hard luck smile and the words 'that's poker' from the victor in the hand.
