You've got lots of options on every street here.
iirc this is game 1? And we've never played eachother, so I like just calling pre flop.
On the flop, I don't think there are any moves you can make that are 'bad' as such, you can check raise and probably get folds a lot of the time, whilst still having lots of equity if I have a hand to continue.
Check calling controls the pot, and it's game 1 and u don't know how I play so this can't be a bad option with a strong draw. When you turn the nuts and see me bet, you have a problem.... (even turning the nuts v an agro opponent is problematic, **** poker right!?) lol
a) you don't know how strong I am. Hand 3/4 into the first game we've played, I could have the nuts, nothing, or anything inbetween at this point, you have nothing to really go on.
b) if you check-raise, you look really strong. Not ideal really as I'd need a really strong hand or read to take you on. (you know I dnt have a strong read, and heads up with you having all the clubs it's unlikely I have a massively strong hand either)
c) if you check-call the turn and then check the river you risk me checking back Tx hands, which I might commit my full stack with on the turn.
d) if you check-call the turn, then lead the river, you look strong again and risk me folding hands that might bet the river if you check to me a third time.
I think in short, all options are open to you on the turn other than the 1 you took. (apart from folding)
If we were deep into a game, by deep I mean we've played 30/40 HU sngs together, you can take the check/min raise line fine, as there will be a lot of metagame stuff going on where I might have seen you do it with bluffs/the nuts/medium strength hands etc, which would put me in really tough spots with my entire range and I'd basically be guessing.
But I think in game 1 v a new opponent your options are to check/call the turn, then make a play first to act on the river after seeing the card.
Or, if you want to check raise, check then shove over the top for your full stack.
If you do this, it looks like you can have bluffs or semi bluffs as well as made hands, therefore allows me to make 'mistakes'. I'd be guessing, with no reads I wouldn't have a Scooby and could be a hero.
Totally readless (no games v oppo, and no previous notes/sharkscope aid) I think I would check/call the turn then consider leading river personally.
Hand illustrates the importance of position!
But heads up is awesome, so many options on every street every single time. Play more!
