when it's a short stack who has made the jam normally i'm thinking he will be holding hands that are pocket pairs Ax or 2 pictures. are these hands good to call?

im jamming them all, why are you min raising with a 12bb stack with j9 suited? just stick the lot in pre, u get tons of folds and when called ur cards will most likely be live alot of the time. im folding the 87 hand

Pretty much what Rocky said. I'd just open ship J9s there, now we have to fold.

One thing to consider is your table image, or at least how you might appear to the others when short stacked. If you've been jamming (either open or 3betting all in), without getting a call, chances are you'll soon get looked up by a marginal holding. Fine if we are strong, less fine if we have 22 for example.

I might, just might, even fold 22 in that example above. UTG+1, and we have some big stacks to get through. Never in great shape as and when we get called.

the reason for the raise with J9s was i had been jamming my short stack on a regular basis recently and they were getting folds all the time and i was thinking it's with the bubble approaching most are now playing tighter, the annoying thing about it was my hands at the time were premiums so now i was thinking they will start calling wider.
the guy who shoved in that J9 was a new arrival to the table and so i didn't know as much about him.

    1, 2 and 3 jam, and 4 is a fold.

Fwiw, you wouldnt have known this at the time but ChicknMelt is a very good MTT player, and you've probably missed a spot there. Especially on the bubble when you have him covered e wouldn't be calling that wide if you shove, but now you've minraised (especially after shoving loads) and especially on the bubble where you calling his shove and losing would leave you with next to nothing, he's probably shoving on you alot wider than he'd have been calling your shove... and with J9s we just want the folds really.

yep - 4 deffo a fold :)  ...lucky for you i was running bad yesterday :(

i shoved A8s there - lambo is right, i would fold that even if you had been shoving quite wide. with the bubble approaching, anyone half decent will be very reluctant to call off their stacks with anything other than a monster, but will also be looking to put others under pressure.

try looking up ICM and understand it as best you can.

with J9s in that spot:  shove > fold >> raise fold >>>>> raise call

if you had been shoving alot then folding is fine, but raise folding and raise calling are both pretty bad options IMO
