Bit of background, got a great start last night got up to around 25-30k in chips and was chip leader for a while with around 150 left or so.

Blinds start to get very high and I was card dead for like 20mins to half an hour. Guys at my table were good players and kept raising so I decided to make a stand and call a raise.

Personally looking back I should have folded. I think I was around 50 50 postflop. Plus he was at it.

Not all bad I took 6 heads and slightly more than min cash.

I think with your stack size the decision should be made pre - shove or fold. 6 3 will not flop well most of the time and you did not have the stack to do much post flop IMO

As played, think a call there was ok, your probably calling calling expecting 32% winning chance. (Assuming he had a pair made over your 6.

Turns out you had a few more potential outs .

Personally I would prefer to fold that hand and shove any two next hand if action folded round to you than call offs more precious chips at that stage

Fold it pre and i would probably open shove that flop, take the dead money if he misses (in this case) Or if you get called you always have outs

Yeah, you 'made a stand' with the wrong hand, but - more importantly - in the wrong way. If you have to go with 6 3 - and there's nothing wrong with doing that if the need arises - shove it pre. Don't call the raise when you only have nine bigs. That's not making a stand at all; it's just hoping to see a fantastic (and lucky) flop.

Yea I am kicking myself about it, hadn't played a hand in around 20mins and seen my chip stack dwindle.

shoulda waited another orbit at least.

I did read somewhere that yoyo would sometimes call with random cards hoping to hit 2 pair or whatever when he has around 10-12 BBs.

preflop: folding > shoving > calling (calling is terrible from that stack)

if you want to make a stand, which is fine, then dont do it by calling - you are playing into their hands because you will be forced to fold alot of flops, I much prefer shoving here than calling even with 64, and its not even close. obviously I'd rather a hand better than 64, so I'd probably just be folding this hand pre.

once called, I'm not even sure I like calling the shove, if you are going to call a shove with 6 high, then just donk bet shove yourself... at least the villain will be folding hands like QT

you were < 10bb...and just not lieking that play in general. 1-2bb becomes massive after you double, and double again etc. you want to keep your chips for extra fold equity and to maximise your chances of a comeback when you do double

Think Yoyo said he sometimes calls with speculative hands if in the BB in a multi way pot with circa 15bb. This is 6 high, HU with like 10bb.

I can only echo what others have said. You CANNOT call pre. You said you were card dead for 20-30 mins, but I fail to believe there wasn't at least a few spots you could've got your chips in the middle and got folds in that time. When nursing a short stack, we have to pick our spots wisely, but we do have to pick some spots. If that means 3bet jamming 67s over yet another button open then go for it. Use your table image to your advantage!

And once we flop the open ender, we really have to donk shove. We'll get folds enough of the time, and have outs for when we are called.
