Guarantees - it's that time of year again.

Morning.

As has been noted elsewhere, some Tournament Guarantees have been reduced.

For now.....

PRIMO (Saturday), reduced from £10,000 to £8,000

Super Roller (Sunday) reduced from £20,000 to £15,000

Mega Roller (Sunday June 1st) reduced from £30,000 to £25,000

There may be other Guarantee reductions, too, it just depends on traffic levels.

Online Poker is extremely seasonal, & similar Guarantee reductions happen every single year at around this time. Come August or September, traffic picks up again, & the Guarantees go back up.

If we have a bad summer (weather-wise), then Guarantees might even go back up, a really hot summer, & further reductions are possible.

The World Cup is round the corner, too, that could affect traffic. Imagine all the celebrations & street-parties if England win the World Cup.......

I always find it amusing how optimistic England football fans are, when it comes to the national team at least. England is the ONLY country that consider England a threat in the World Cup - not that I'm saying that's a bad thing :-)

Realistically, they'll do well to not finish bottom of their group - it's a very tough draw. Just looked at the odds and the bookies are seriously under-estimating Costa Rica, they are a decent side.

Disagree, England SHOULD beat Costa Rica comfortably.....but you never know with England!

The Italy game is the crucial game, I'm pretty sure Uruguay will beat both of us so our first game of the group could well be the decider. This is the first World Cup where I am not expecting much from England!

^ Yeah I think in past world cups we are always somewhat overly optimistic but I don't know any England fan who genuinely believes we're going to do well this world cup. Anything better than getting out of the group stage is a bonus!

Well, time will tell - I think it will be quite a close game, will be making predictions closer to the time when we know all the squads :-)

Quick question, & I know everyone has a view on this, but......

The Sunday Roller Guarantee was reduced from £20,000 to £15,000, after last weeks renewal suffered quite a heavy overlay, in line with seasonal trends.

Yesterday, with the reduced £15,000 Guarantee in place, it made 168 runners, & so covered nicely.

    So the question is......

If the Guarantee had been held at £20,000, how many runners do you think it would have got last night?

    Morning Mr Kendall
Is that like saying if I 4 bet my 72 off will the flop come 772 :)
as a newbie I have noticed alot of sats are won by players who already have seats in these big mtts, they win and get cash? if this cash was replaced by mtt token to the value of seat then maybe less regs will play them thus freeing up seats thus making the mtt it's orignal gtd?
Maybe people are put off playing the sats if alot of seat holders are in them, plus i was told in a primo 3 seat gtd sat which only had 9 runners, reg before and dereg if you win a seat and take the cash, is this right?
Probably got it all wrong and it's prob been mentioned before?
    Just my point love x

    THIS.

I have always seen this as a problem, but have always been in the minority. Even last night's UKPC final, which was extensively covered live on 861, failed to mention that a couple of regs who were congratulated on winning 'seats', had already won seats already!

It is a grey area, but one where Sky Poker will always favour those that have rather than those who have not. So, the regs are doing nothing wrong if the system is set up this way and we have to just accept it. I got shot down in flames last time I brought this subject up, but I do understand your points very well.

If you stop players who already have won a seat/registered from winning the value of the seat, you'll likely reduce the amount of seats to win in a sat.

    Correct.

I think it's pretty much "industry standard", for better or worse.

It's not difficult to see both sides of that question though.
