Why does SkyPoker limit itself to UK&ROI only?

Was just reading the thread about lowering guarantees and wondered why Sky has decided to limit itself to UK&ROI customers only?

Apologies if this has been covered previously, just seems an oddity with a product such as online poker which could seemingly be easily made available to a wider audience... especially with the wider Sky being such a money-making behemoth.

Appreciate that like every other site, it'll always be a minnow compared to ***s, but even picking up just a few hundred / thousand players from a bunch of other countries would bring in additional rake and help to up the prize pools available to tournament players.

    We accept customers based in any of the following countries:

    • United Kingdom
    • Channel Islands
    • Ireland
    • Finland
    • Gibraltar

    Due to our products/services being prohibited and/or restricted by local laws we do not currently accept new accounts from any other countries.

    barmy, imagine if they had it open to the whole of europe, put loads of tournaments with good GTDS on every night, sort out the software, we rival any site on the market apart from the stars.

    Wondered this the other day. Is there actually anyone accounts registered from Finland or Gibraltar?

    each country has their own legislation you need to pass, and generally its not even worth the time effort or money, finland is a random one ha! as for gib everyone there is a punter so sure there would be

    I've played someone from Gibraltar

    Not poker related but it demonstrated the wonders of the internet in 2008. I hadn't been online long but I was into golf and played Tiger Wooods online. My first online foursome consisted on the following. UK (me), Australia, Canada and best of all British Antarctic Territory.
