ive bought my seat direct, only started playing online again yesterday, with the weather being so bad what with all the snow, and if the trains decide not to run on this day will i be refunded, is there someone i need to ring if this happens. likewise if the event is cancelled due to the conditions?

hi jamielou fingers crossed for your mum,but dont hold your breath.On last yrs tour rules were changed a couple of times and they had loads of complaints.at the newcastle leg there were several seats where people hadnt turned up,i was there with my brother in law and asked about playing one of the seats and donating any winnings to charity,but because they had allowed it on a previous i didnt think it would be a problem,but they said no coz they had had loads of complaints but good luck

For months now SKY have said there is no direct buy in to the spt legs, what a turn around, guess i'll just wait in the future and buy in instead of trying to qualify for a select game.....the gloss is taken off it.
I feel a big let down with all my travel costs for a tour that someone can just buy into if they live down the road.
If i could get a refund for my expences SKY can sell my seat.

It does seem the goalposts get moved every now and then Hjatland.
I'm not a great or good player.....if the SPT in Newcastle had been a direct buyin i would not have been interested, but the structure was that you had to qualify to be there, making it a level above throwing cash at a game.
This will be the last SPT i will be going to try and gain a seat for, i feel duped and right pxxxxx off.

I do think it is exceptional cirumstances and you couldn't direct buy in to Manchester (I was desperate to play but went and watched - said hello to you I remember!!)
I think under the circumstances it is better than having stacks being blinded out however I don't know why there wasn't a satellite at £24 tonight and tomorrow, I think that would have been better and my fiancee wanted a go and £24 is ok for her bankroll but not £110!!
I really hope you can make it as I admire your effort and it is people like you that make the SPT!

I think any seats should either be put up as a £24 quailfer or they should be put up for sale again at £110, i have tried to quailfy with no luck this time, and enjoyed the Manchester SPT, i think if there are some people that cant go then they should be seats made available.
Time i finished work 2day i missed the 9 seats that was available. Do you think there will be some more either quailfiers or direct buy ins?
Would be better to have a full tournie rather than 5-6 people missing and just getting blinded out.
These are special and unusual circumstances. Ordinarily we'd have done last minute satellites for the seats that became spare from our guests. However with the weather we decided to try and sell all the seats tonight to give those wanting them directly the maximum possible time to make arrangements
It does not mean there will be a direct buy in option available for future legs. There probably won't be
Of course for Newcastle 130 of the runners will have qualified in online or live, which remains the primary method of entering an SPT event

As I say, exceptional circumstances and many options have upsides and downsides. Offering nine seats tonight and selling them allows players who are almost certain to be able to attend to participate. We felt that offering satellites after tonight was too short notice given the circumstances at the moment. Hence direct buy ins on this occasion, which does not imply similar will happen for legs 3-5

I understand how you feel, and to some degree I agree with you. It might have been better to have some sort of qualifying tourny for the remaining seats. However, decisions have to be made in the best interests of the event and SKY have decided, rightly or wrongly, in the buy in route and we have to live with that. (Would have been cheaper for me, cos it cost me more than the buy-in to qualify - but heyho it was fun). I seem to recall that 4 seats were available on the day in Manchester and they were sold on a 1st come 1st served basis, so there is precedent.
I presume that these 9 seats became available as a result of people advising SKY that they could not now make it (eg JAEGERBOMB) and they are trying to fill the "spare" seats. Much better that, than empty seats being blinded out, as Dave has already said. I suspect that not many who didn't turn up in Manchester advised SKY that they would not be there, so there were empty seats. I think that speaks volumes for the popularity of the event - the word is spreading, and let's not forget this is only the 7th SPT event that SKY have run, and they will still be learning. It is also very unfortunate that the weather is having such an effect, but for those who think a postponement should be made, I think that would be a logistical nightmare leading to far more controversy - people not being available for the new date etc. etc. And nobody can blame SKY for the weather!
Unlike you I only have to drive about 150 miles to the event and I realise that many more people will have greater difficulty than me in attending the event. I hope they ALL get there. Anyway, those of us who are lucky enough to be there must enjoy the day regardless.
I think I have waffled enough now, so I look forward to meeting up with you (and others) again on Saturday.
We discussed various issues around refunds/cancellations etc this afternoon. I expect if the situation worsens from here then we will have to discuss again
At present I anticipate the majority of the field making it. Major roads are ok, Newcastle airport is open, trains are running.....obviously its a tricky situation. The logistics of postponement, finding a new date, availability of presenters, myself, costs already incurred by Sky and players make it highly undesirable to change at this short notice.
