The only bet I've ever had on Golf was back in 1992, when I bet on a young virtually unknown South African golfer I'd seen play and had a brief chat to at the event they used to hold at St Mellion. His name was Ernie Els and he was 150-1 for the Open.

Of course I suffered the fate of most of those who back huge outsiders who back each-way the first 4 places, he came fifth after being up amongst the leaders on all four days. These days of course with bookies playing 5, 6 sometimes even 7 places, I'd have collected...

Evening all.  Looking forward to the golf preview as I will be recording it for my girls.  My youngest, Jasmine, loves watching it and my eldest, Sienna, needs to watch it for Mr Channing as he is the only person in the world who talks more then her!

For the open I quite like the look at Tiger at 22/1.  I know he's coming off back surgery and has no recent form, but, he will not have to hit a driver at all around Hoylake and you will never get 22/1 about him at the open until he's in his 50's I reckon.  For the first round leader, would the panel recommend waiting for the weather forcast for Thursday to come out before putting any money down as this can make a huge differance for a fast starter like Rory.

Have a great show and has Mr Channing missed not going to the WSOP this year?

Welcome back from Vegas Tikay, enjoying the show as always

Its good for golf that Tiger is back, but I think my money will be on him missing the cut.

Keep up the good work guys :)

Never folding a full house is Zeebo's theorem.  Named after Arther Zeebo, a Polish statistician who coined it in 2001

Enjoying the show and enjoying my poker on sky and some live down in Brighton.

BUT my cash game seems to follow the same annoying pattern.  Grind away with a reasonable tight aggressive game and slowly, happily build a nice stack until, sooner or later, I get a big hand run into a bigger one.  Can't seem to smell their set or spot their 2 pair when i have top/top.  Can't lay down the big hands or seem to walk away while i am up.  General suggestions???

    Thanks chaps

i've just seen my hand shown on the TV and feel a bit embarressed.

the two players i was up against in that hand were both players  who's bets werre more than just premium pairs so if i did hit top pair i wouldn't rule out being behind.

hands such as KQ and AJ may be more higher in rank for hand strength but when i see 3bets these are often going to see me either win small pots or loose big pots as the opponents range will usually be AK AQ and AA-JJ.

when it's suited connectors the main risk i have is from premium pairs.

Q is this a valid enough reason to call a 3bet with suited connectors in position or will it be still a loss in the long run?
