    Hi Guys,

Some clarification of those questions you raised.

Just to be absolutely clear Sky Poker is offering the holiday package including buy-in but is not involved in running the tournament in any way. You’ll therefore need to separately enter into and comply with the event’s terms and policies when you enter. So, if you are not entirely happy with the tournament or package, please don’t try to qualify. We have asked about the issues you’ve raised though and can confirm that the $20 “Add-On” is automatically part of the package you win, it is already paid for, so no worries there.

As to any winnings in excess of $10,000, they’ve agreed that the venue will wire these to you direct. Up to $10,000 of course, will be paid in cash by the venue.

Hope that clarifies everything, but if you have any further questions, fire away.

Can we have some clarification on the flights, I'd assume Sky has looked into the prices themselves, but as the package is for two and prices seem to be in the region of £600 each... the £800 isn't going to cover it.

$1500 of hotel credits is great but must be tough going to spend that in a week, especially if you stay in the event for the majority of the trip. Some of it might be better used making sure the flight costs are covered.

I hear what you say Paul, but I don't imagine they will change those numbers, its just the way the thing is put together.

    hi paul,

i've done a trip or two like this over the years & from  my experience the make-up of the package won't be very flexible,

most would rather the $1500 in cash for sure but it tends to just be the resorts way of squeezing max ev from you.

Generally they bump up the prices off everything by 20%, and the $1500 will no doubt be quite easy to spend through.

Might be worth having both options for single room and double room available for players.  I had a look at the packages on there website http://www.puntacanapokerclassic.com/the-package/.  I would only require a single room and from them packages it works out over $500 cheaper doing it that way at only $3300.  So maybe there could be an option for that then the remaining $ could be added onto the travel expenses.  Also it shows on that site the double room package is only $3830 for 6 nights where as the package is supposed to be worth £3500 for 7 nights?

£3500=$5668.49 - the $3830 which is advertised on the official site = $1838.49 cheaper buying the package directly on the site.  Only difference to the package on the official site is 1 more night added on sky.

The air fare allowance is not included if you purchase the package "direct".

Yes, it might have been a better option, but they won't be changing it now, for sure, or not that I would imagine. I don't foresee anyway that the constituents of the existing package offered by Sky Poker will change.

    Sorry!

Yea sorry Tikay forgot about the airfare but that way still works out $542.83 more expensive.  I understand how business works and sky do it to make money which is understandable but that much markup on the package seems a bit over the top just my opinion of course.

Yup, & I absolutely respect your opinion Conor, (& everyone else), I can only reply in line with the facts I have been briefed with.

All players, of course, have the option of buying the package direct for £ notes, & if anyone is not comfortable with the Sky Poker Package, they should not try to qualify.

In comparing prices, though, be careful not to compare apples with beetroot. I'm pretty sure the Daily Punta Cana Freeroll on Sky Poker offers £333 worth of seats for free, (9 x £37) unless you count the required 20 Poker Points needed to enter.

So as you can see, its a bit awkward to just compare the bare basic numbers. Those Freerolls run 7 nights per week, (so 7 x £333 per week for x weeks) & I daresay (just guessing, don't quote me) there may well be Punta Cana "Promos" giving away packages, too. So I'm not abso sure the package is as bad financially you are suggesting. Multiply 7 x £333 x 4 weeks or whatever, & divide that by, say, 7 packages, & it don't look so bad then, does it? So no, in truth, I don't personally think any "excessive" profit is being made.

You may be right, of course. ;)

You could also say those Freerolls replace existing Freerolls which would have run anyway.

See how difficult it is to get a straight line comparision? The main thing though, which gives me comfort, is that everyone has the choice.

Whatever peeps. Some people - show em roses and they smell fertilizer.

Its a package deal it says what you get - your decision to try and win it or not.

If I didnt have a non-flexible work commitment on 5th Nov I would be going for this big time - even if it might cost a couple of hundred extra to take the deserving Mrs P along with me.

This time last year Mrs P was fighting for her life - so I may have a different perspective than some.

    GL everyone.

Thanks for clearing up those issues, I feel a lot better about it now.

Will there be a skypoker presence out there like previously done with VLV?

No worries at all Mr B, & I'm actually glad these questions were raised by you & others, both on here, & by numerous players who have written to me personally asking the same things.

In truth, we should have anticipated the questions & been pro-active, & made it clear that the Add-On thing, & the payout situation, has been arranged as described by me on thread this morning. We should have made that clear in the first place, fo sho. For balance, it's easy for you & me to stand on the sidelines & point fingers at who should have done what. It's not so easy in the hot seat though.

There will not be anyone from Sky Poker at the venue, no, or not that I am aware, though there will be someone there appointed to look after our Package winners. Won't be me, for sure, I've been elected Chairman of my Allotment Society, & so I have to attend the AGM that week, proper big do that. I won "Best Turnip" you know.*

    * There you go lads, volley that one in.

    Thanks Doshy,

I don't want to derail the Punta Cana threads but VLV is NOT dead, it is currently under consideration, I've been in several discussions this week about it. It's quite a complex thing these days with the existing, & incoming Gaming legislation being what it is.

If they find a way to do it, fully street legit, they will, if they don't, they wont.

The next Sky Poker UKPC is also in the mix, as are SPT's, all these things need to be balanced against each other, & a myriad of other considerations.

    Fingers crossed though, eh?

I might be wrong and it could just be me, but I don't necessarily see the package as a 2 person thing. Yes, the accommodation is for 2 should the lucky winner want to bring someone, but I don't see the package on the whole as a winner +1 type thing. I see it more as the option to bring someone (at a small added expense) should you be lucky enough to bink. Who wants to take her indoors anyway?! ;)

I also wouldn't pay too much attention to the resort credits. It's not like Sky will be able to shave $500 off these and put towards flights, doesn't work like that. FWIW BA are offering holidays to this hotel next year, and they include $1000 resort credit. It's just a little sweetener from the hotel.
