I honestly don't know, & to the best of my knowledge, I don't think Sky Poker have made a decision yet. There is a whole lot of stuff going off right now, but I do keep nagging them - such as I dare - to make a clear decision.
For the record, they have NOT ruled out doing them again, & some tentative & provisional plans were being discussed a month or two ago, but, with everything being so busy right now, I've not chased them since about it.
I do make a bit of a nuisance of myself with these things, & I sense they get a little tired of my constant questions, but if I hear anything, I'll let you know.
I'm pretty sure there will not be a full "SPT Tour" again, as we had previously, because other stuff has proven itself to be more cost-effective for the site, UKPC etc.
However, the recent discussions centred around maybe 2 or 3 SPT's per year.
There was also a discussion - still ongoing - about a sort of one-off, & affordable, SPT-type thing. That discussion continues, with the Venue, so I'd rather not comment further on that right now.
I really could not guess if they will happen though.
Nothing to stop the Community organising get-togethers though, & if available (& invited/welcome) I'd certainly try & attend.

Michael ( DTWBandit ) and I are currently finalising details for a " Sky Poker Community " get together in Newcastle on 20/21 March 2015.
Neil Strike will be approaching the 3 main casinos in Newcastle , shortly, to see which one can best accommodate us.We are looking at a buy in of £50+? ,with possibly one re entry ,with the tournament to start Saturday afternoon
All in the community are welcome and it would be great to see as many as possible attend and rekindle old friendships and make new ones .
Tony it would be fantastic if could make it and I hope you are able to find a window in your busy schedule and join us all in Newcastle.
As soon as we have more information I will post up here .
Thanks for your reply, if you could keep us posted on any updates on there desisions regarding the Sky poker tour.
If it went to 2 or 3 a year, that would suit me better, due to work commitments etc, I think I speak for a lot of people here in saying that we miss them, they are like no other tour around the uk, genting etc are great poker tours but not the same feeling as the sky friendship, banter, fun weekends.
Get your finger out Tony and nip there heads, and see what you can do.
I know Micheal and others are holding a weekend in Newcastle, and I will be attending hopefully you can too, but sadly it will not be the same as the SPT , qualifying online ,booking hotel, generally looking forward to it.
FORUM DTD LIVE WEEKEND ok then all details confirmed it'll be like a mini SPT hopefully loads of forum DTD regs and others will attend it promises to be a cracking day Venue........ Aspers Casino Newcastle March 21st 2015 Start Midday Entry £50+£10 Dealer Dealt and includes full buffet 30k starting stack 25 min clock we will post all details re registration very soon Posted by scouse_red
Yes mate I know about this weekend, and will be attending should be a great event , run by the community players , I take my hat off to them for getting this weekend up and running so quick.
We all need to attend and support the boys.
But back to the discussion about SPTs , I personally think Sky poker has forgotten all about the players who have and still play on there site on a regular basis , ie every blooming day, and all the players who attended the tours, on a regular basis' travelling the length of the country to play in a small event such as a£100 buy in 1 day event or a £200 2 day event, with the cost of hotels meals, transport,, ,,,, are we who supported these GREAT EVENTS put aside or forgotten about, I am afraid I think we are.
I have great respect for Tony Kendal aka TK ( but don't tell him I said this) who answered already on this discussion , but as TK puts it, THE BIG WIGS lol have not the balls or respect for us regulars to answer the simple question about the future of the SPT as we know them.
The UKPC EVENTS are brilliant and I attend them and will keep doing so, but the banter community feel is not at the UKPC as it's a lot bigger event, attracting the bigger players, whom we all love the chance to play against.
But I don't see why SKY cannot run 2 smaller events as they did as the SPTs in casinos across the country, let see if THE BIG WIGS ANSWER OUR QUESTION, INSTED OF FOBBING US OFF ALL THE TIME,, YES OR NO
This is a fab idea,I wish you all the best and hope you get lots of the community to attend, the spt was great and I really enjoyed playing the 3 that I managed to win a seat to,as Colin mentions there is nothing like qualifying online, driving down etc etc,I am sure this will be a fab experience and good to catch up and meet chaps we play on this site.i would really like to attend this one but I'm afraid it is a little too far for me to drive to as I may be a little fatigued due to personal issues, having said that if you were by any chance thinking of doing one after this say close to London ( or Brighton would be good lol ) I would defo attend ( fingers crossed)
I hope you all have a great time and I tip my hat to you for getting together and organising this.good luck to all.

My wife and I also love the SPT perhaps three tournaments would be good Brighton, Blackpool, and one in Scotland (maybe perhaps a big one at DTD) then the whole country is covered (sorry northern Ireland) you know the tournaments will be full, with more willing to pay the entrance fee should they not get into via satellite so come on sky think of the average and recreational player that have served you well, that maybe haven't the bank roll or like me are not good enough for the ukpc but are sky poker regulars and love the crack of going to a live play with fellow players. Its sad that the sky poker community have to organise there own tournamenton behalf of sky poker

Huge +1 to this.
People told me the Dublin event was also very good, i don't know how possible that would be, but would hope it would work for Irish and less travel for the Northern Irish fans for sky poker.
£1k for me is just way out of reach in terms of even trying to put down a reasonable amount on sats.

Can I ask if this is confirmed & can I go ahead & book a room ??
Yes please see details above , this event is confirmed at Aspers Newcastle ,I will be speaking with the card room manager this week to arrange reg details.
I appreciate that this event is scheduled to take place shortly after the UKPC however it is clearly aimed at many in the community who will find a buy in of £50 more easily affordable.
I will shortly open up a registration thread but in the meantime if anyone has any questions please ask.
Great to see the community taking the initiative in getting this up and running. I agree with Colin that the fun element of the SPT events may have been lost in recent UKPC big buy in events.
I would look forward to having a bit of fun and banter, and maybe a few beers, along with playing poker for the weekend.
While i agree its good the community getting together and arranging an event - i cant help but feel this shows how much people want an SPT and are making strides to get one. Dates are already pretty close to the UKPC and while £60 should be affordable - after travel and accomodation i could only manager one or the other - surely this is bad for sky - the community leg is closer to home, more affordable and unless i bink a sat early it will win the fight.
Sky i urge you to stand up and take notice and realise your player pool is responding in this way.

Why no love for London as one of the venues? I played the SPT at Aspers 2 or 3 years ago and I think (not sure) it was the biggest ever SPT by some margin.

hopefully if we as a community can get these weekends to take off we might be able to in the future.............. remember this is a group of players from the community who are trying to have some get togethers in the "spirit of SPT's" whilst we wait to see if Sky Poker are going to run anymore SPT's ...... I hope you will support
