Our guest is Irishman Dermot Blain who has won over $1.6million
in live earnings and took down an EPT side event in Barcelona this year
on a final table. which included EPT winners David Vamplew and
Mike "Timex" McDonald.
Dermot started life as a salesman, but quickly graduated to poker and
made a name for himself in 2009 by winning the Asian Pacific Poker
Tour Main Event in Macau for more than half a million dollars.
He's also a bit of an Omaha wiz, so if you have any questions about that, fire them in and we'll devote a big segment of Poker School to the subject from 9pm.
So there’s plenty to ask him about, give him a google and you’ll see
what I mean.

He blathers blindly on, oblivious to all.
The bit about 11.40pm has an element of truth in it though...
If they're any good we'll do MTT ones in the Poker School hour 9pm-10pm and any main event ones in the final hour 11pm-midnight.
Any Mstercash hands we can do between the hours of 7pm-8pm and 10pm-11pm.

Re: The WSOP Main Event.
Jacobson was definitely a deserved winner, he played the best on the final table (at least the second half of the FT), coming back from 7BB after 145 hands to dominate the final day. Yes, he probably had the best run of cards over that time too but he used them very well.
Jorryt van Hoof made one big mistake 3-handed and paid for it, otherwise he would have been a handful for Jacobson.
The WSOP will have loved Billy Pappas (or if you really want, William Pappaconstantinou)'s presence on the FT. He's the nearest thing to a rank amateur to make that stage since Darvin Moon, and they need that to happen once every few years to keep pushing the idea that anyone can come and put down $10K with a realistic chance of making a fortune.
Similarly the Mark Newhouse story has been great publicity
There seems to be more and more momentum to abandon the November Nine, particuarly now the players aren't able to get chunky sponsorship deals in the interim, but I see that as a brand the WSOP will want to keep pushing.
Shame we haven't had a Brit at the final table for the last couple of years, but 4 in the top 60 this year was a decent showing.
The other thing that needs changing is the commentary team. I know how hard it is to do long live (or nearly live) broadcasts, but to call the cards wrong in the final hand and then to announce the losing player's name as the winner collects his bracelet just beggars belief.
Looking forward to 2015 already...
