Sharkscope searches

Just discovered something while trying to watch usa netflix on my phone.

Bear with me for a second......

For those that are not aware there are different versions of netflix (a video streaming site) based on where you are in the world and by using dns codes or vpn's (don't let these terms put you off im no it wizkid either) you can trick your device into thinking you are some where else in the world and access the different versions of netfix.

In the same way by using a vpn you can trick sharkscope into thinking your some where else in the world and bingo 5 new and, more importantly, free searches.

I have downloaded an app on my phone called speed vpn (there maybe better ones) which does this for me . You can change country to get 5 new searches each time or simply connect and reconnecting seems to be working for me. I just had to remember to change currency.

I'd also warn people about using vpn's on the same device as you're playing poker on it might cause problems due to sky poker only being available in certain regions.

Lol download free app or £120 per year?!

Some of the advanced features might make it worth it but for now I'll go with the cheapskate option ;)

Got my hopes up but it sounds way too complicated for me :(

Any existing members want to share their SS pword with me for £1 per month?

    Win.

    Win.

    :D

"That's an insult. I'd rather smash it up than give it you for £1 pm. That is pathetic."

Just swipe up on iPhone and click wifi off, instant 5 more searches. Anyone else with a phone in the house, do same on their one. Also you might have a 3G iPad, do the same on that. It recognises a home network despite different devices, but can't detect if you do it over 3G/4G.

    is this legal?
spoofing a website to get around their security.
bit like jumping the gates at a train station?
surprised the mods are happy with this. .....

Don't know to be honest. It is certainly morally questionable but then again selling peoples records without their express permission is also morally questionable in my book.

The companies that sell your contact details probably apply that very same logic.

I seriously wouldnt recommend using open free vpn apps/s/w

At the very least they are:

    a) harvesting and using your personal details
    b) getting you to sign up to giving some of your bandwith away to reciprocate the arrangement

    Worst case scenarios are

    c) download malicious s/w and potentially stealing your identity
    d) using your ip address and bandwith to commit crimes

The main users of these sites are people wanting to stream online stuff from countries they dont have access to e.g. netflix us or canada instead of uk etc. Think about how much bandwith that takes - the people doing this have to be making money somehow and this is either semi legit or totally criminal.

Why do you lot worry, its all pre programmed and the SOFTWARE is fully in control. It actually makes YOU feel that you have some influence but you don't.
