Do a Cirque du Soleil show if possible. Doesn't matter which one, they will all be spectacular. Posted by FCHD
Yeh Zarkana at the Aria was unreal. Battlefield 24/7 was tons of fun, the show at caesers is I here v good things about aswell. Wynn buffet very nice, Ellis Island resturant a short cab drive off strip I had one of the best meals ever for about $14 + drink
I think that your best option for a good daily tournie would be either the Aria or the Venetian. Caesars used to have them too but they closed their room and now just have a small cash game area. I think that both the Aria and Venetians are gonna be the best strutured tournies that you'll find in Vegas, and I'd from memory they are $120-$150 and probably run twice a day. If the Venetian has a deepstack series coming up then they will offer 1 table SnGs too which pay out in cash so that could be another option.
You'll also find a lot of rooms offer hyper turbo 15-20 min clock tournies if you are after a bit of fun. Of course on the strip you are never far from a nice 1/2 game, which even if cash isn't your main game, I'd advise just playing for a couple of hours as its always fun and you'll meet interesting people!
Now something to remember to try at check in is the $20 trick. Just say to the clerk, if you could find a free upgrade I'd really appreciate it with the money in the passport/with your credit card. It's not 100% to work but I've done it 4 times and it's always been a worthwhile investment. At the very least you'll get a refurb room/nicer view but for a 5 day stay there is potential for a decent room upgrade too. As Brits we are embarrased to ask BUT just remember you'll never see the person again and the check in people get asked this many times a day so you have nothing to lose! One time I had a bog standard room booked at the Palms and got upgraded to an apartment with a balcony so its def worth it!
Whichever hotel you opt for just google the name and $20 trick as some of them you have no chance in, however most of them are fine and it's standard Vegas practice.
Someone mentioned the Planet Hollywood for staying in. I like the casino BUT it is most certainly the loudest on the strip and certainly aims for a younger clientelle than the average Vegas casino. It is fun tho!
Try both the comparison sites and also the hotels direct when booking. Make sure to google 'Aria voucher code' or whatever before booking as usually you can find something that can save you a few $$$s too.
For Teddy and anyone interested, Thomas Cook are doing a sale that includes direct Manchester - Las Vegas returns from £549, including 23kg luggage allowance and a 3 course meal. Think it's certain dates from May to December.
Very good price if you can nab one of the sale leading fares.

I just had a looksee at Virgin Atlantic reward seat sale. Only useful if you have Virgin airmiles though (or Tesco points that you can convert to miles). The sale is on on now - 31875 airmiles plus £217 cash for economy return to Vegas. £51 of Tesco vouchers would get you the 31875 miles. I have a quick look (more in hope than anticipation) and found lots and lots of availablity for the airmile seats.

Does that £217 figure include taxes/fees or is that to go on top?

That's really good then! Return to Vegas for a couple hundred quid and he still doesn't wanna go?!
Just divorce him.
Might even look at getting them Tesco vouchers myself.

If Manchester is not too inconvenient, that Thomas Cook flight is well worthwhile.
It leaves the UK at around 9.30am, & arrives Vegas 12.25pm, which is a few hours earlier than the Virgin & BA Flights.
Time it right, & you can be playing a 2pm Deepstack @ Rio, GN or Venetian on the day you arrive.
As Ryan said, never underestimate the value of tipping.
We stayed at the Mirage for a week in September and on the advice of TK hired a car for a couple of days at the hotels car hire desk in reception. The cost of the hire for 2 days was $295 which i thought was a little steep but had nothing to compere it to so agreed the price and off we went, When we returned the keys to the guy at the desk he asked if we wanted to tip him, i looked a little puzzled and he said if you tip me i will look for a better price, so i gave him $20 and he reduced the price to $145

I stayed at the Luxor, which was very good, they had 2 daily tournaments $55 but in also they had cash games running all the time. And you get free drink while you are playing, hotel is cheap during the week , if you get the chance you should go to old Vegas (Fremont street) where Binions casino is where the WSOP started and they run daily cash / tournaments too, but most casinos have poker tournaments running to get around you should use the Deuce bus ,which is the cheaper opinion also if you get a taxi from the airport to your Hotel Don't take the airport tunnel route as it can put $5 to $10 on the bill
ref shows we saw two shows Motown show at the Venetian which was very good also if you are a certain age the Menopause musical at the Luxor is very funny you can get cheap tickets at booths along the strip also if you want to splash out the grand canyon tour is good we went with Mavarick tours about £500 for two of you and you land in the Grand Canyon , and you get picked up from your hotel the tour last about 4 hours
