the player i'm against is a tournament reg and his ranges in the SB is most likely A9s+, KQs and middle pairs and sometimes AQ.
being a flop with both an A and K, i'm thinking because of how good my range will be on this flop, unless he's got a nut flush draw it's more than likely going to see him fold, therefore if he were to call i could easily give up on the turn?

3betting a hand in the SM and seeing a flop Axx is a spot i do generally struggle to know whats best in general because the small premium pairs will now want to see a fold and i'm thinking well if i just cbet an Ax then it might make people easily fold weaker aces.

Tough spot. You would think with stack sizes that AK/AQ are going to rejam pre flop, as are 10s-QQs and probably KK/AA but because you have shown such strength by reraising a top MTT players UTG raise from the SB he may flat with these.

But, because he has position he may still call with AJ, KQs type hands and his 99+ type hands.

I think I would check and see what he does. I dont think he will lead light as your range smacks this board and he could think your going to check raise him all in or trap with a monster. He doesnt really have room to bluff you off a better hand successfully I dont think.

c/c flop and go from there.

This is always going to be a tough spot to balance because your 3-bet range sb vs utg is gonna be quite narrow. I don't think the average player checks enough Ax as the pf aggressor in these spots so a good thinking player might just barrel knowing your range is weighted towards Kx/QQ/JJ.

As Craig said above your protected from this by the stack sizes here so my standard would be to c/c flop, c/f turn.

Craig can continuation bet, or check fold imo.

If you check call, we are folding pretty much most turns.

Think cbetting this would be madness.

We are with QQ but that's not the only hand in our range.

We can check back some Ace x hands on the flop.

A good % of the time we'll be continuation betting our Ace x hands though.

Don't really like calling the flop having to fold the turn. Would be better if we had Qh.

Or the river as the case may be. If it goes check, bet call on the flop. Good chance that the turn will potentially get checked through and are likely to be facing a river bet. The turn and the river are very similar (when ever a 2nd bet would come).

Given that i'd expect to face atleast 1 further bet after the flop and it's very hard for our hand to improve, if checking the flop I might be more inclined to fold.

    **Depending on reads of course!

knowing UTG will have a range highly likely to consist of broadway cards, some Axs and middle, if i'm already going to be HU could making the call preflop and base my aggression on the flop be ok?

Some might say that Ch/R the flop will only really get called by better, as far as i can see QQ is going to be bust by AA or KK preflop, middle pairs will usually be careful with calls on broadway flops and on boards packed with middle cards middle pairs will have got sets.

really, it feels just as vunerible preflop as it does post flop except if the flop has an A then it's more easier to escape. also providing i jam Axs on suited boards i should get the calls from those middle pairs.

Matt has 40xBB. UTG or not, it's 6max and he is gonna be opening MUCH wider than Ax, broadways and PPs imo.
