£1Mil UKPC Final

I've won a free seat for this tournament.  If I get in the top 10 I won't have enough money to spend a week in nottingham.  This sounds like a bit of a big shout but do I get money/travelling expenses if I qualify

    Firstly; well done! Secondly, you won't spend a week as you will get entered into Day 1D (Fri) and Day 2 and 3 are on the Sat and Sun; so it would be 2 nights tops! From what I know, you don't get expenses but Sky do look after you when you are in regards to certain elements! There is a pinned thread at the top of the page.

    No you won't get any travelling expenses unfortunately! Unlike some other countries UK doesn't tax poker winnings and therefore can't be classed as a business where you could get travel expenses :)

    How did you win the seat to this, a freeroll? 

    As above poster said, you won't need to spend a week in Nottingham. You'll go down early Friday and book a hotel to stay 1 night. If you get through the first day (Friday) and then make the money on the 2nd day which is Saturday you'll have to book another night but you'll already have + £2k locked up by Sunday so another day spending money won't be a problem!!

    If you're really struggling to get funds together to even just go for a day then it might be worth seeing if any friends would be willing to give you a bit of cash in exchange for a decent % of any winnings should you happen to cash!

    Thanks for the replies!

    I won a seat by entering those freeroll tournaments that are held everyday at 7pm and 7:15 pm.  I got through that and it led me to the Semi-final held at 9:15pm.  I got through that and now I'm in the final tomorrow.  I've never played a live tournament in my life, my poker face must be horrendous.

    How many players will enter this tournament?

    The £220 Final will probably have something like 60-70 people I think so 6-7 seats up for grabs.

    The actual live event is £1million GTD and is a £1k BI so it is going to get at least 1000 entries. Some of those entries will be pros busting out on the first day1 and re-entering on the 2nd day1 (and potentially re-entering more than that), but you can expect the live event to have around 1000 players, so it'll probably be in the region of 100-150 people that cash

    Maths needs some work Lambert! It's 1 in 5 that get a seat not 1 in 10 ;)

    Oh sorry, got the wrong end of the stick! If you get a seat won tonight, I'd def encourage you (being polite!!) to get down to a local casino and play live 2/3 times as playing a 1k tourny buy-in as your first ever live game would be a +ev move!

    I'm assuming you guys know this but there are tournaments on everyday that enable you to get in for "free" as long as you have enough points.  You have to win 3 in a row, this is my last one tonight.  So I've won one seat for the final already, can I win a 2nd seat tonight if I win the quarters and semi-final again?

    Are any of you guys going to the tournament in Nottingham?

    If you uncheck the Reg only/filters boxes, you can see a list of the qualifiers for Nottingham.

    You could not have 2 seats, so logically you would receive the buy-in as cash
