It was 100% a fold on the flop.... with a raise and your flat followed by a pot his range is basically the nuts.

That gives your opponent around a 38% edge. not including the fact that you hold one of your full house outs.

As played once you call the flop bet you are commited so not much you can do after that

Annoying spot... having the 9 blocking our FH outs is definitely an annoyance. Plus, it means if we do hit we're less likely to be paid off since it limits the possibility of anyone else having a FH.

However, I still would not consider folding to the initial flop bet for a number of reasons:

    - Players behind can call which then gives us the correct value on our flop call. The more in the pot = the better value we have.
    - The board is extremely draw heavy and non-static - there are a ton of turn cards that change the current nuts. Any 7/8/J/Q/K/board pair or spade will change the current nuts. This means that we have got a good chance of seeing a river card since any bare 78 is likely to slow down on a lot of them turns. It also means we have the possibility of turning our hand into a bluff which we can do with a good image and opponents that are capable of folding.

Once we call the initial flop bet and see a raise and call, I think we have the odds now to continue. Will work out in a bit, but for just the 3 way side pot we would need to put in £28 to win a pot of about £104 so we need 27% - with our hand, we pretty much have 33% against most ranges.

Sorry bev but this seems like a fold preflop to me this play is way above my thinking did you really think you were ahead after the river or were you pot committed and was there history between you hope it doesn't sound cheeky just wondering :-)

Hi Weecheez, Sorry for taking a while to reply, I must have been in similar situations hundreds of times before and this is the first time i can remember calling so it was definitely an opponent specific thing. Main thing was every other time he had 3 bet/ checked flop he had either flopped the nuts or had a no pair/ bottom pair hand similar to this one and the way he played future streets ruled out flopped or turned straights a lot. I only felt pot committed in as much as the pot odds i was getting meant i only needed to have the best hand one out of every 3.5 times to show profit.

Sorry again taking a few days to reply, I only posted the hand because MrDavies accused me of being a calling station and it kind of went to my head a bit :-)
