    In Response to Re: Just a little brag but I am chuffed to bits:
    Right , all this reading about Vegas has got me to take the plunge and arranged a trip out to play live.   I've posted this here so it gives a little bit of my background to any one who would like to give advice ! I saw the great reply's to fi33er s post in the poker clinic so I've got to ask for some too as I'm trying to take on the reply's to his post . It's a 50£ freeze out 18000 chips (if I Reg early) 15000 if not 30 min blinds ,I know this is a bit big for my first live torny but it is a big deal for me to get out and I'm just hoping for a good night out and enjoyment but hopefully do well:-).  My worries are  1.its self deal (I've been practicing) 2.live poker etiquette (I've read and watched a lot) 3 I'm quite aggressive early on online but my plan is to sit back and get a feel for it first am I going to ge t behind quick with 30 min levels ?  4. counting stacks ,I know how important this is and for some reason I've got it in my head it will be difficult live?  5.I am still very much learning so know I make mistakes its easy behind the lap top but in front of folks arrrrg ! 6 if I mention I'm new to live won't they target me even more so my plan is to stay quiet? Is that wrong ? I know it sounds like I'm talking my self out of it but I'm determined to give it a go and enjoy it  any advice grateful the reply's to fi33er s post are Copyed in to my little notes !

    1) Most people will be useless at dealing, just take your time. As long as you don't flip people's cards over trying to be too fast and you dont forget to 'burn' cards postflop you'll be fine. Ideally you'd go to a decent casino/card room where they have dealers tho :p

    2) Tbh, if you just practice good manners, that's 90% of the way there. One major thing is don't make any actions out of turn, like even if you get dealt 72o in the SB and you're 100% going to fold it, and you want to go the toilet, you have to wait until it gets to you, fold, then leave the table. You don't technically NEED to do this, but when you're new to be on the safe side I'd recommend you announce what you're doing clearly BEFORE putting the chips across the line...

    This eliminates any fears about string betting too cos if you announce first, then it's your words that will stand.

    3) I think 30 min levels live is around the equivelant of a 5min blind game online, so it will be relatively turbo-ey, depends on blinds levels etc, but little live comps all tend to be pretty fast. Just keep an eye on how many BBs you have and play the spots you're given.

    4) Most people stack chips relatively neatly so you might not be able to know an exact count but you could get pretty close by using having a rough count of the big denomination chips (which all players HAVE to put at the front of their stack). In a hand, you can always ask how much someone has behind too, they don't have to tell you, but most will or will give you a rough idea.

    5) The standard in a £50 live comp will be absolutely terrible, so I wouldn't worry about making mistakes, it's likely every single person will make a mistake in almost every single hand ;)

    6) Totally up to you, you'll probably get a feel quickly for what type of people they are. Most nice friendly people (which is the vast majority of people I've played live with) will be very welcoming etc if you say you're new, probably be a bit more forgiving etc if you make the odd mistake. I'd be happy to mention it's my first live game unless they all look like a bunch of miserable TW@s

    ================

    Live poker is great fun, soooo much more fun than playing online imo. Just remember the standard will be vv poor, so just play a very solid game focussed around making hands and value betting, and enjoy it!

    oy - i'm not that bad!
    o/w smart words from lambie

    also pay attention to the size of the blinds. as the blinds go up you'll suddenly discover you (and maybe everyone else) have less than 20 big blinds each. don't get caught trying to finesse your bet when it should be a chunky allin or fold on the flop (and even pre-flop just one level later)
