When Maintenence occurs

I sometimes wonder if a new  feature will be  added to improve things at the tables, or preflop raise buttons are customizable .
Generally little tweaks to keep improving things, some features added that are requested in the Feedback area.

It never seems to happen, or if it does, Ive never noticed.

I realise some maintenence will be security related so your not going to announce what your tweaking.
I was looking through the settings on the client, to see if I could get my active window to pop up when its my turn to act, I couldnt seem to do this, Im sure  its been possible previously.

Also i noticed a tick box

If you do not want to take part in the SkyPoker League, please tick.

Is the poker league still a thing that happens ? Ive not spotted it if it is, maybe im looking in the wrong place.
Summary.

After a Scheduled maintenence,  could you post what improvements have been made , this would be good PR and give faith that you do actually care about improving things.

BTW, this isnt a complaint, im playing 100% of my online  poker here and aint budging.

    Hi mumsie,

That's a good post, if I may say so.

I'm afraid I've no idea what the "Sky Poker League" is, but I'm sure some of the regulars will know.

Onto your main point though, do the Business really care about improving things? Absolutely they do, & they work very hard to make the site better, all the time. Why would they not? They have a DUTY to improve the performance of the site. That's why the Business is so stunningly successful. And when the new owners came in, they upped the game, & everyone in the Business is now even more heavily committed to making SB&G a better place. There is no other way to keep improving the Business than to keep (trying to) making it better. And it's results over the last decade have proven that, it's a great success story.

Should they make it known after "Scheduled Maintenance" what has been done?

Well firstly, as you noted, some things are best not made known, especially as to Security Upgrades & certain commercially sensitive stuff.

If a tangible & visible improvement is made to Sky Poker, then they DO make it known.

However, many (the majority at a guess) of these "Scheduled Maintenance Outages" are either for the entire platform (Bet, Vegas, Casino, Bingo, Poker) as to things such as.....

Increased capacity to handle more traffic, optimising servers, making changes to how specific data is processed or assembled, changes to keep in line with legislation, etc.

    Or....

    A
ssembling, making way for, introducing & developing new Products or capabilities. These can be to any of the Sites or all.

As an example, a while back the new HTML site was introduced, then, later, Cash Games on Mobile, then MTT's, & eventually SNG's also on Mobile. Each of those 4 things took a long while to design & build, & to do so, every week or so, an Outage would take place to put in place another part of the process, another piece of the jigsaw so to speak. Only then can they test these things, "behind the catflap" (invisible to us as users).

More recently, the new Rewards Scheme came into place. This involved an enormous amount of back office work, all sorts of stuff had to be changed to facilitate it. Many people complained that "Sky never put any thought into it", but the truth is, it was planned a very long time ago, & took a long time to bring to reality.

Right now, each of the sites (Bet, Vegas, Casino, Bingo, Poker)has major additions or enhancements in train, these are all "work in progress". At some stage, they'll be completed, then they will be made known. And all the while those things are happening, every week there is a need to maintain, tweak, add, improve little nuts & bolts of the whole platform.

    Hope that makes some sense.
