Feeling really rough now. Keen to see how the new format goes though. I once played Max Rushden in the Poker Million a few years ago. He played pretty well and certainly knew poker...he wasn't a total novice by any means.

    Indeed, great game for us.

Although bragging rights were short lived, Sunday night at live game had a bit of banter with a mate about the result and before I knew it was watching highlights of the infamous 8-2 drumming, sigh fold!

Yeah, but your result was bang up-to-date, your mate was living in the past. Raise!

Hope you all enjoyed last night's format. I certainly did and I thought our two guests Max Rushden and Ian Simpson were top class.

All constructive feedback welcome. Bear in mind though that it was our first go at it and we'll no doubt iron out any creases as we go along.

    :-)

Oh, and Tikay was there too.

I found it a very entertaining show.

Having watched all the Sky Sports shows - and this is only my opinion - regardless of 'the game at hand' the guests make all the difference. Humorous & generally chatty people are a must.
I personally find shows with pure poker people (only talking about poker stuff) less enjoyable (same was true on #861/865)

+1 to this. If anyone new a total novice wants to join poker might be daunted by all the poker chat. I remember when first went to dtd to see rose never played poker and everyone was in poker chat mode it was very confusing and very daunting.

In Response to Re: New show starts tonight- The Sky Poker Grudge Match 10pm, Sky Sports 4 : Hello Bludreid,  I think I tried replying to a similar post of your's once before but you gave up on me. If I remember the general thrust was you would prefer things to go back to how they were. I'll have a go at replying again anyway...  I think you are correct. There is probably a good chance that very few people subscribe to Sky Sports solely to watch the two hour poker show. Many also probably don't pay just for speedway, "Tight Lines", the NFL, "Inside Sailing" or the WWF.  BskyB are a totally separate company to Sky Betting and Gaming and I know that SB & G are pretty pleased that SskyB give them a great two hour slot every week on Sky Sports. The show gets between 30,000 and 50,000 viewers each time and both parties seem very happy with this.  I'm a big fan of Redmond and I'm sure everyone was sad that he didn't want to do more shows. I'm not sure what cn be done about that. Should we kidnap him?  I've now read your post three times and it seems very clear that you don't like the show and you won't be watching (although if you don't subscribe and never have I wonder how you've seen it). That is perfectly fine though. If everyone loved it and watched then the viewing figures would be 50m+ but it's not possible to appeal to everyone.  My confusion is simply this...if you have zero intention of ever watching and you think it's "lost all credibility" then why do you care what channel it's on?  I gave up on watching Eastenders when Pauline Fowler died. At that stage my interest in how many shows they had a week and what time they were shown instantly ended.

    Thanks for your reply.
I may have worded my post better. I will try to explain my points a little better.
When i first started playing poker, i looked at most sites and after a short period i chose Sky.
I like the format, 6 seats. I enjoyed watching channel 861, that is where i gained all of my knowledge of the game.
As a complete beginner, listening to TIKAY, ED GIDDENS, even ORFFORD i got tremenndous insight of the game and i think my game improved ( slightly )
The other things that dissappointed me, and thats the best word to discribe how i feel
Sky had a winning formula, 6 seats, the Banter, the Forum, channel 861, team Sky. All these made for a pleasurable experiance, win lose or draw, you had fun at the tables.
I understand that its a business and has to make a profit but, many players have left and now play on other sites, this should be a cause for concern, if you take the FUN out of the site it just becomes another gambling site. Sky could still become that again with their  U-Tube channel. Its free, so they could have hours of play, FREE of charge.
Its NOT the case that i wouldnt pay for view, i cant, i have a huge tree in front of my house, so i donnt get sky TV.
I suppose if we get down to it, its all about customer satisfaction. I am all for change, but change for the better,
1st rule of business, make sure your customers are happy

Give it a rest, Orford, you are becoming more than a little tiresome. Next you'll be telling us you cashed in last night's Main Event.

I'd just like to say I enjoyed the show and I like the fact there is more interaction between the guests with this format.

Max Rushden's Heads Up masterclass must have rubbed off on Rich who ran over RLT in the HUFA cup the next day.

I thought Neil Channing's understudy did ok although I look forward to Neil's return very much.

ICYMI..... or, more realistically, knowing full well you didn't miss it but revisiting it purely to rub your face in it...
