I managed to win a seat in last night's tourney starting at 19 15
I got myself settled to enjoy myself then panic someone at the table kept going all in every hand passed a bottom pair 4s I think this went on for a couple of rounds then I got A 10 and called managed to get it through and he busted out a few hands later
After I remembered to breathe again I wondered if I had done the right thing ignoring the result
1 should I have passed the fours
2 is A 10 strong enough to risk my seat
3 should I stop holding my breath lol

I think its fair to pass 4's because its rare that you arent going to be flipping and its too early to be wanting to take flips... But ace 10 is definitely a good enough hand to go with as it crushes the complete random range of hands he has, A lot does depend on your position on the table though as if you were in the BB its an easy call but if lets say he has shoved UTG and you are UTG+1 you then have to worry that 4 other players could call you, and if they do its likely you are behind/flipping.

If it is an MTT and a player starts shoving/playing hyperaggro from the start just sharkscope him. If he has a strict downward trend you know he is shoving poor hands most of the time, just be prepared for when he has a good hand or makes a good hand to shrug and say "oh well".

I hate calling early shoves in DYMS, let alone a MTT, but if the guy is a cowboy and you have a top 5% hand you have to call - chip leads let you bully MTTs.
