App for Android

I was wondering if someone could explain the below which I found in the Q&A section:

Q. Is there an app planned for Android devices?

A. Not at this current time: this is due to Google Play's current policy towards gaming or sports betting applications in their store. We continue to review this on an ongoing basis. Much like iPhones, you are able to enjoy Sky Poker using your browser.

Bit confused by the above as I believe the SkyBet App for Android was launched around 6 months ago. This also can't be found by a search in Google Play, but needs to be downloaded via the website on your phone.

So just wondering why the different view when both SkyBet and SkyPoker have the same parent company?

    I can try........

As far as I am aware, the Sky Bet Android App is still not in the "Play Store", due to google's restrictions, but it most certainly does exist.

    So why not Sky Poker?

I'm only guessing here, but I wold imagine it is in the Development queue. Given how important Mobile has become to Sky Poker - hugely so - I would guess it is nearer the top than most. After all - speaking bluntly - there is a very measureable payback.

Then it comes down to priorities, & only The Business is best judged to decide on those. But again - a complete guess - they'd have to decide between developing the Android App, or making multi table functionality available on the current App. Both have very strong merits, & I guess both will happen eventually. I've no ideas when though.

The digital world develops SO fast, the landscape is ever changing, so all these things are a little more complex than it may seem to those who cannot see inside the Business.

It could be argued that they should just throw resource at everything on the players Wish List.  It'd be a bad argument, though - a very bad one.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I do flood them with questions upstairs, they must get jolly fed up with me at times, so I've not actually troubled them with this one. I did send 4 other questions up this morning though.

I should also add, I'm physically removed from the Office - they are in Leeds, I am in London, so I'm not close to the action, & don't get to earhole all the daily goss.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Tikay. Was just surprised really that it hadn't been done yet. Saw something the other day on TV relating to casino type games and between 80 % and 90% of the traffic for that is now from mobile devices.

I'd best not go into detail, but in Online Gaming generally, "Mobile" is absolutely massive these days - the whole online landscape has changed out of recognition in the last 5 years. SB&G have out-performed most of their competitors in this area, & it still has mileage.

I have no hard info on this at all, but that's why I'm guessing that Mobile will be near or at the top of the development queue prioritisation in Sky Poker. It's payback is very significant, & critically, that payback & performance can be measured, on a daily basis, precisely, unlike so many things.
