UKPC Advice

Just having a quick look through at the UKPC Schedule, this may just be a daft question as there isn't any on the actual schedule....But is this just a pretty high buy in festival? I mean are the any more affordable buyins during the event or is the minimum the 500gbp.

I would love to attend like most but physically cant at them buy ins,I also understand they are what they are but just wondered if it included smaller buyins or if ever that would be a possibility?

    Morning JP,

I'm sorry, but no, £500 buy in (+ Reg Fee) is the minimum.

I am all for poker being inclusive, & looking after us small guys, but this is the United Kingdom Poker Championship, & as such, we believe it needs that prestige of bigger buy ins, these are pukka Championship Events.

The good news is that for the Main Event, you can satellite in at very affordable prices on Sky Poker, or even via Freerolls, there is a UKPC Freeroll every day at the moment, & plenty of Promos & giveaways.

Once the Festival starts, there will be Live Super Sats for all events at the Club, too. I daresay Party will run Festival-wide satellites, too. Sky Poker will concentrate on the Main, but DTD & Party will run satellites for all the UKPC events.

Be great if you could be there. Fingers crossed.

    Hi Tikay...

Just read the above and you mention (for the 1st time I think?) that Party will be doing sats for this Festival next February. I, unfortunately, will not be able to make this one so will not be attempting the sats etc. However, is this something that will be the norm going forward? IE I already knew DTD would be doing live sats for upcoming Festivals so that could be one way of gaining entry, but also having Party doing sats too will be very advantageous (IMHO).

I understand they may be some restrictions or company policies involved in all this, but could this also work the other way in the future with sats being done on Sky for live Party events at DTD?

I have also just noticed it is labelled as the 'UKPC' Event Schedule without the usual Sky Poker prefix. I know you have explained the reasons behind naming a Festival before in great detail, but is this one going to be a more combined effort from all involved?

    Hi Alan,

    Several questions there.

I am pretty sure that Party will HAVE to run satellites nearer the time, though I doubt it will be for a while yet, they give us "first shot" at Online qualifying. For a £1 milly event, it's all hands to the pump. They did not do them for the 6 Max, (half a Milly & £500) as we mutually agreed we could manage without, but this may be different.

The question is slightly wider actually. DTD run what amounts to a "Tourney Token" system where "tickets" can be used for almost anything, but it's immensely complex & varies from Event to Event.

Clearly, I'd encourage everyone to try & qualify on Sky Poker, but I'm not going to insult folks intelligence & deny that Party might be running UKPC Quallies at some stage.

Restrictions on Company policies? I get your meaning, but again, we are all grown ups, so I am happy to tell it how it is. And yes, it could easily cut both ways - that has already been discussed. Unfortunately, at the mo, Sky Poker can't find the room, time or space to run more Satellites to, say, random DTD Events. In 2015, UKOPS, UKPC, Punta Cana & VLV meant Sky Poker had no additional satellite capacity given current liquidity, & the huge increase in VLV, Punta Cana & UKOPS numbers.

An oddity of this "are Sky Poker bothered about working with DTD/Party?" sort of thing is that, as to UK & ROI facing traffic, Sky Poker is substantially bigger - by a multiple of several - than the equivalent player base on Party. Globally, of course, Party are much bigger. So no, we are comfortable with the relationship at present. And I think we have, all things considered, a better Online Room, with a greater variety of promos. I tried finding some PLO8 SNG's on Party recently - nothing. We can play 60 or 70 per night on Sky Poker & several hundred run each night in all.

Event Title? It's officially "Sky Poker UK Poker Championships" as per the headline (but not some of the detail lower down)
    HERE

So it's business as usual as to the UKPC really, same as the previous renewals. DTD, of course, are busy with the Stadium Tour thing, too, & Sky Poker are busy with all sorts.

Thank you for the prompt and detailed reply Tikay.

I think the more options available for players to qualify for these events, the better. It is a positive move forward and hopefully increases the chances for all to attend these Festivals. The 'ticket' or 'token' system may be complicated to manage, but maybe necessary for future events.

The upcoming SPUKPC (rolls off the tongue that ;) ) will be a success I'm sure, but hopefully improvements can be made to the satellite routes to qualify. I honestly did not know that Sky Poker were that much bigger than Party in player base (uk?) but I know that you would know the figures better than most. Obv a bigger global share of the market by Party, but they do actually encourage UK only sats etc and their media community is growing very fast. This would enhance the opportunities for UK players to qualify for future live Festivals.

All interesting stuff though for the coming New Year.

PS....it is the 8th December and I haven't seen my mate Sky Elf on the forums yet. I hope she is ok? Has Sky Santa & Rudolph been retired? ;)

    Hi JP,

I can't promise this, as it is a matter for DTD upon which Sky Poker have no control, but during every previous Sky Poker UKPC @ DTD, they have also run £25 & £50 sideys for the regulars, & I'd be very surprised if that were not the case again. We do actively encourage them to do this, as those guys play at DTD every week, & we don't want to hack them off by excluding them every time we visit DTD.

So if you came & along & played those, at least you get a feel for the atmo, & maybe meet a few faces. Better if you qualified for the UKPC itself though, obv.

    Morning Alan.

A very odd & unexpected by-product of the
UK Gambling (Advertising & Licensing) act is that ALL licence holders are required to submit their total Margin (Margin = Reg Fees + Cash game rake), & they then add it all up & report the TOTAL for the UK. So from that, & for the first time ever, they can now see the TOTAL size of the UK Poker Market, though it does not break that out into individual businesses or Sites. However, Sky Poker obviously know their total annual Margin, so it's a very simple sum to work out their % of the UK facing Market.

Sky Elf, Sky Rudolph Sky Santa been sacked? We can but hope......

    Morning Colin.

    Congrats on winning the seat.

I have a question, too. How did you manage that? Not to be rude, like, but you are utterly hopeless.

Fair play to you, you are looking well for your age.

The default Opening Day for Sky Poker Qualifiers is Day 1c, which is the Saturday.

    The T & C's state.....

    1. To have the chance of winning a Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event seat you can qualify either via satellites or by direct buy-in at the event venue, Dusk Till Dawn. Successful players will be entered into Day 1C, which commences on Saturday 27th February 2015 at 12.00pm.

However, if you prefer to play the Thursday or Friday, that's cool - just let Tighty or myself know in advance, & we'll sort it.

"....it would be nice if it mentioned on satalite of day 1 u were getting put in...."

    That's fair comment, Colin.

Why don't they do so? I'm not exactly sure, but there are "character limits" in the Lobby of these things, rather like Twitter, & there's only so much info they can squeeze in.

It's a similar thing with Tournament names - there is a character limit on those, too, think it is 18, including spaces.

There's always a reason. Sometimes it even makes sense.

Anyway, be great to see you next month.

    Dear Gary,

Congratulations on booking your place at the Sky Poker UK Poker Championships at Dusk Till Dawn, Nottingham in February 2016. With a prize pool of £1,000,000 guaranteed and the title of UK Poker Champion up for grabs, it’s sure to be one of the most exciting poker tournaments in British poker.

As a Sky Poker qualifier you have been entered into day 1B of the main event  on Friday 26th February at 12pm. Your chips will be in play from the start on day 1B so we suggest arriving in good time as we are expecting it to be very busy.

If you are not already a member of Dusk Till Dawn you can become one by visiting the Dusk Till Dawn website and following the instructions on there.

    See you in Nottingham!

Just a quick one really i have qualified alias Woodcock09, just wanted to know which day i will start as online i saw something stating all online qualifiers would start on day 1C which was Saturday the 27th. But then in the MY POKER section where it shows you where you have qualified states starts Friday 26th February. Could anyone help with this as i want confirmation for booking the time off work.

Do Sky send emails or write to parties who have qualified for the event with invatation or instructions for the festival?

    thanks

    Hi woodcock,

You will be automatically entered into Day 1c - the SATURDAY - unless you wish to play the Thursday or Friday, in which case, let me know, & we'll sort for you.

    Apologies if the info conflicted.

And yes, in due course, all you will receive an e-Mail from the business with confirmation, & all the nitty gritty.

Your name is safely in the lobby already, as you can see if you click THIS

Congrats on qualifying. How did you qualify, which route?

    Played much live poker before?

Hi I qualified on a Sunday,  I won an all in sat 2.80 which got me a seat into the semi, top 8 qualified for the final is finished 8th in the semi. Then in the final needed to come top 10 to qualify for main event I was chip leader when we qualified.

I've played a lot of live and online play over the past 8 years, I currently play in a pub league Redtooth poker, but have played DTD and other casinos also, I had previously qualified for 2 National finals of redtooth before and qualified for endless regional finals. I don't want to feel out of depth and this will be the biggest tornament I've ever played I'm excited but scared of the daunting task of having to come through 1000 players to do it.
