Villain is LAGGY and puts me in a hole on the flop. How would you guys play this hand. I was considering the shove pre, but I felt I had too many bbs and a decent edge and so should avoid risking my tourney life.

I suppose shoving pre wouldn't be terrible, but as played its a trivially simple fold on the flop. If villain's are particularly stationy I might 3bet smaller pre to keep both them in and keep the pot smaller, then stack off when we hit top pair. I think we have too many chips to just stick it in pre to get hands like AJ to call.

    3bet less pre

flop is played fine, its either open jam or c/f imo and I prefer c/f

I always think AK is difficult out of position, flat call pre - flop would be 1 option, or raise smaller and cont bet might have got you an extra card or more info. I think he prob had mid over pair so fold was right imo.
