Just to give some background info. We were 4 handed. I was the short stack. I didnt have any solid reads on the villain (i.e. his donk bet range) and I was a little distracted as I was heads up in the 9pm final table (sick brag).

My thought was hes either made trip 7s on the turn in which case i'm not getting the right price to draw to flush... or he had a monster draw like pair flush/strt draw. Anyways I folded and was left with 14bbs and ended up going out shortly after in a flip.

Not an ideal spot. Think I play the same with a big flop raise big get it in. Not ideal when he donk jams river. I don t imagine he plays flop as a bet call with just 7x unless its 78 exactly. Folding could be the play on the turn. We only beat QJ or something like Q8d in terms of draws, and it looks more like a hand with showdown value then a draw. Wouldn't be surprised if he had Tx and wanted to see a safe turn before putting it in

Id probably just shove over the initial donk bet, it looks a little fishy but you get him to fold so many hands that beat you and when you are called your never gonna be in horrible shape. by just raising you give your opponent a chance to flat and there are so many bad turn cards for you and even if you spike a diamond that could well lose you your action.

Either flat or do what Jordz said. Would be read dependent as to which option I went with.

    Thanks for the reply guys.

Yeah I initially had the allin button pressed, then at the last minute opted for the intermediate raise thinking it was a big shove and would be skewing my hand range to big draws. Also I figured shoving may have scared off weaker flush draw/ strt draws which he might re-shove. Wasnt expecting him to flat then donk shove, but in hindsight I should have prepared for it.

I agree with Matt, I'd flat or do what Jordz said, probably leaning towards flat just cos I think when he leads here it's often with a hand he's gonna call off a jam with.

More importantly, what are you doing raising my BB with just Ace high? Next time I might just defend with my 77 ;)

Tough spot, but I would have prob gone with it. It would of given you a playable stack plus reeled his stack in a bit. As it happens, my exit hand H/U was a similar spot. I had str, flush, str flush to hit on river....and missed my 200 outs. Sometimes, it just goes that way.

I was in the middle of a reply the other day when an un-closable pop-up popped up! Anyway, I was going to say exactly what Jordz and the little'un have said. I think w/o too much reads on his donking range (and subsequent actions on turn/river) I think I prefer to jam. There are plenty other FD's I would just flat with.

Think if I'm raising flop I prefer to just jam. Calling flop is an option too.
