Rules for being blinded all in

This post does not relate to online poker purely live poker
If a player leaves the table for whatever reason obviously they lose their blinds and antes etc however if the player does not return and subsequently goes all in due to the blinds does his hand remain live because he is all in or is his hand still declared dead for not being present
Any suggestions
