First trip to Las Vegas?

Rio, at one time, directed you to a "Tax Consultant" who had a little booth in the Amazon Cardroom, & who charged 10% for their services, which consisted of filling out a single form. Fortunately, they no longer do that, & are very helpful these days, as are most Vegas Cardrooms.
With plenty routes left to get there I'd be surprised if you don't find your way over.

I write all these "Vegas for Newbies" things, & then do 2 really dumb things.
Having confidently declared to US Immigration I was carrying £9,800 in my Lappie Bag, just under the undeclared max, I get sent to the "back room", & whilst waiting my turn, I realise I have an extra £500 in my back pocket, which tips me over the limit. That was a very uncomfortable wait, as it's never wise to mess with US Immigration @ McCarron.
Then I somehow lost, or had stolen, my Passport on the flight home, & Gatwick would not allow me through.
I was reminded of that a week or two ago, when I booked this year's Vegas flight, as it suddenly dawned on me I had replaced my passport, so needed a new ESTA.
Easy job though, I just read those 5 wonderful Guides to Las Vegas, & that told me everything. They really are very good, you know.
How did you get on with booking the Players Meal last year? Was it a good restaurant, everyone enjoy it?
The tip is, if you win $5k or more anywhere in Vegas & don't have an ITIN, leave the money behind the counter, go sort your ITIN (it's very quick & simple) then go back & collect your untaxed winnings.
More seriously, I take my Passport with me almost everywhere when in Vegas, as it's needed for ID so often. Don't like to carry it around, for fear of losing it (me, lose a passport?), but it has to be done.
The regular cabs are smack bang outside the Terminal door, so that's my preference.
The cost varies, from $20 to $40. If you don't specify, the cab will take you along the faster, but much longer, Freeway, & it'll cost around $35 + tip.
However, if you tell the driver to go via the Strip, it's sometimes slower, due to traffic, but is half the price - depending, of course, which hotel you are booked into.
The Sky Poker qualifiers are staying at Palazzo again this year, which is at the other (far) end of the Strip, fwiw.
Incidentally, you can almost always casually organise a taxi share. The UK flights arrive, & the passengers are all there for poker, so get in the queue, & you can soon make an introduction, "you OK to share the cab?" sorta thing.
The only minor problem is that T3, the International Terminal, is deathly quiet & very under-used, so usually you need to walk along to the T1 cab rank, which is about 100 yards further along, as there are not often cabs waiting outside T3.
