Good morning/evening all, a warm welcome to both my readers from a somewhat cool & overcast Las Vegas, just 36C this morning.

    Day 1A - yesterday - was the busiest Day 1A for some years, with 794 entrants. (754 in 2016, 737 in 2015).

We can expect more than double that today, Day 1B last year had, iirc, 1,733.

I've secured a corner of the Media Centre for myself, Sam & Mark, though I've not seen either of them for days.

I guess they are working on their laptops in their hotel rooms. Or at Spearmint Rhino.

I heard late last night that TommyD was deep in the $185 Daily Deepstack, but I don't know how it ended up.

Will let you know as soon as I hear.

    Hi Tony,
Looking forward to reading your updates, did not realise it all started yesterday, so caught up on the action in one go this morning. Hope all is well after the welcome party. I will also watch later on BT sport.
Are you looking forward to following anyone in particular?
Any tales of a "part time" player performing well yesterday?
How many sticky buns have you consumed on this trip?
Just a few questions to get you started.

    GSmith13

I'm not sure what day Mr Ambo is playing, but I'll let you know as soon as I do.

I'm very well, just back from 2 weeks in the sun.

Of course I will be coming to Manchester and bringing the degen with me (and her little 'bump')

Have a great time, see you in August

Play commences at 11am (7pm UK).

No sign yet of our players. I assume Sam & Mark will be bringing them across.

I hope they have already registered - the queues are growing already. You'd need to be in that queue now to stand even the slightest chance of buying in before 11am.

Missing the first 20 or 30 minutes of the Main is no big deal, except it lessens the excitement of the opening announcement, and the oh-so emotional rumpy-pumpy introductory music.

What a great effort by Sam Grafton yesterday.

This lad is one of the brightest & most intelligent young men you could ever wish to meet.

Anyone want to guess where Sam lives these days?

Here's a photo I took of him yesterday, as he built a 200,000+ stack.

I have got a vested interest in Mr Smith. I hope he runs as good as he did in those super roller wins he had. Defo one to watch.

GL to any other qualifiers who play today too.

The coverage on BT isnt a patch on the good old days of Orford and yourself BTW. Only plus side....Kara ;)

News comes through from Sam - the players are in the queue to register.

One of them does not have a Players Card (Rewards Card) so they have had to go back to the Rewards Card desk & sort that.

I've got their Hoodies with me in the Media Centre.

And these two are Tedson (the smaller of the two) & GSmith13.

They are both clutching a wad of $100 dollar bills amounting to.....$10,000.

    Yikes.

Ha it's from a certain series of films/books from younger days

If I could change it, I'd probably go for BattMates...
