In Response to Re: Hints & tips for those who have not played "Live" before. (SPT Manchester) : Angle? I'd call it cheating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HpSRXssFqo Posted by Tikay10
I was being polite calling it an angle, Anyone who pulled this stunt on me would soon find out I'm not always that polite.
don't know if this has been mentioned before so I apologise for repeating if it has.
If you are going to Manchester 235 by car you park in Watson Street multi storey car park next to the casino. The casino will validate your ticket and give you an exit ticket to get out of the car park with no fee.
However at Manchester 235 you have to get them to stamp your ticket at reception when you enter the casino and then you present it at the cash desk as you leave to get your exit ticket.
If you don't get the ticket stamped as you go into the casino they refuse to give you an exit ticket as you leave (unless you jump up and down and complain .... I have put this to the test lol) and you have to pay to exit the car park.
Some people will want to see their oppos cards before revealing their own at showdown. Occassionally you will get a situation where both players (assuming it's heads up at river) will sit on their cards whilst the dealer is asking for them to turn their hands over. Stale mate haha. In this situation, the player that made the last aggressive bet must show their hand first. A good dealer will know this and will ask that player to show their hand first.
(this usually happens when two players have medicore hands and have been betting calling all streets and neither think they are ahead haha).
Another member may word this better for me if it doesn't make sense.
This is a very useful thread that should be bumped for Brighton. How did any of the first time live at Manchester SPT people find it? Anything you wish you'd done differently? Was it more intimidating than you thought? Anything you'd now advise a Brighton newbie?
I would advise people to try and get used to physically adding up chipstacks. Its harder than you think in game - particularly at 235 where they were unable to take some of the smaller chips out of play.
Whats the etiquette on using a mobile phone for taking notes at the table,? Its something I would like to do, but would be too embarrassed to do. Posted by mumsie
Can't say I've ever seen it done before, & you may receive some smart-Alec comments if you do, but I'm not aware that it would breach any etiquette.
The only thing I would say is that in doing so, you must not delay play in any shape or form. That would be out of order.
May I enquire why you feel the need to take notes during play? For what purpose?

As long as you are not taking calls then I think it is usually fine. If you are taking calls then people usually step away from the table. Writing notes on your phone should be fine as nobody ever usually bothers if you are messing around on your phone.
If you were making verbal recordings of hands on a dictaphone app then I would step away from the table (a la Gus Hansen).

If I bother, it would be when im not in a hand, so there would be no delay.

I see players post hands that they played in Manchester,( I cant turn bold off , im on my mobile), I might play some hands that I think are post worthy and jotting them down almost immediately would improve accuracy, im old and prone to nodding off.
If I meet someone at the table and we swap acreen names and real names, idont want to be posting ......him with the bad dress sense....
I forget names 3 seconds after being introduced in real life.
