Only at Sky Poker

Hi All,

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Sky Poker for the trip I won to Vegas and the chance to play in the WSOP. For those that don't know Sky Poker did a raffle each week for 4 weeks giving 1 person each week the chance to win a trip, you only needed to get 10 points for a ticket and everyone was limited to 350 tickets a week I think, so everyone had a chance pretty much whatever stakes they play. Really hope Sky do this or something similar again next year to give others that probably haven't got the skill to qualify a real chance to do so. Obviously it's not short odds, but if you get some tickets you have a chance!

What a place Vegas is, unless you go it really is impossible to get your head around how big everything is there. I was on the 45th floor of the Palazzo looking down the strip and everywhere looks so close, but actually takes about 20 minutes to get past the hotel next door! Its somewhere everyone should go (if they can) once in their lifetime, even if you don't like gambling.

Also just wanted to say what a great bunch ALL the players were that I met and also Sam, Mark, Tikay and Neil. To be honest I was expecting the Pro's (and I guess around 20-25 of the qualifiers were Pro's) to be arrogant, have their ear phone's in, unsociable and generally not very nice. However, I couldn't have been more wrong, they really were all top guy's and girls and it was a pleasure to meet with them. Some of them were actually quite posh, which I totally wasn't expecting! Hopefully can meet up again at an SPT if I can get myself qualified.

Cheers
Greg.

Was nice to meet you in Vegas Greg!

You really seemed to appreciate being in Vegas and playing in the WSOP. Even after busting the event you stayed behind and railed the other Sky players and watched a lot of the action.

Hopefully meet you again on a future trip.

    All the best,

    Marky

Nice post, Greg, & it's great to hear you had a ball in Vegas. That's the whole idea of VLV, to try to help players, especially Vegas newbies, have a trip they will always look back on with fond memories.

Try & get qualified for Brighton, be good to hook up again.

Posh? Not sure I thought I'd see the day when the likes of Matt Bates (he's from Essex) or DTM (shops at Oxfam) called posh.

First off, was nice to meet you Greg.  Hopefully get a catch up in Brighton and hope the poker is going well.  Enjoyed reading your review.

Now Tikay if I remember rightly the receptionist at Manchester 235 casino said we dress very alike.  I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I think what Tikay is saying is that the Poker players from Sky don't spend a high percentage of their winnings on clothes (Timmy is the notable exception). Channing must be captain though, he has a different Jeremy Corbyn T-Shirt for every day of the week.

Was thinking more of Tedson and Sharki0 for being posh, they talk all proper and have Uni degrees as well.

I've only ever seen Bates in hoodies.  As these have classically been associated with gangs (and people who do exercise, but I think we can safely discount THAT) I reckon it's his attempt to look menacing as he glares at you across the table from his highchair.
