Boxing breakdown thread

Afternoon Gents,

I thought I would get in on this and open up a thread. After reviewing 4 years of betting history it would appear I am only succesful when it comes to boxing.

I show losses for every other sport but for boxing I show considerable profit over a good sample.

Boxing has always been my passion so I will try to breakdown and give reasoning for all my bets.

Bet#1 (large bet) Saul Canelo Alvarez to beat Golovkin 11/8 (Or better)
Bet #2 (smaller bet) Saul canelo Alvarez to win by ko 9/1 or better

This pick is going to suprise the vast majority but I see canelo winning - More than that I see him winning easily.

Golovkin is 35 and as they say fighters start getting old overnight for me Golovkin peaked in 2014 and has been on a downward curve since then. in his last fight he was pushed to a very tight 12 round decision by a talented boxer called Daniel Jacobs.

Golovkins air of invincibility is dissapearing and his inability to avoid punches is all to apparent.

On the other side we have Canelo a fighter who is in his prime at 26 and over the past 3 years has shown vast improvments especially defensively and as a counter puncher. Canelos sole loss was to floyd Mayweather which was a unanimous points decision.

Golovkin will find it very hard to hit canelo clean and canelo will counter with crisp leads and uppercuts. His movement is exceptional and as golovkin misses more and more canelo will counter. Golovkin thrives on putting pressure on fighters keeping them against the ropes but this wont happen often against canelo who will make small movements to avoid punches counter and then move sideway... Canelo will hold centre ring.

I honestly think around round 10/11 Golovkin could be stopped - I see this being alot more one sided than many pundits or proffesionals think and it will shock people.

Saul Alarez will win a wide points decision or get a late KO at huge odds.... Golvkin has a lot of hype and freightning ko power but you cant knockout what you cant catch clean. Canelo's timing will beat Golovkins power.

    fight is 17th Sept

Prior to this on the 16th I like billy joe saunders to beat willie munroe jr on points at even money.

    Billy joe has a record of 24/0/0 = 12kos

he should comfortably outbox his opponent who is unlikely to be stopped - he has 1 ko loss to Golovkin (no shame) he is a decent fighter and i would fancy him to beat billy joe more than billy joe ko him so the pick is saunders on points

    World boxing super series....

For thos that know they have got all the champions and top contenders together in one tournament.

Best bets are Callum Smith 2/1 and eubank jnr are the stand out bets.... I think both have more talet higher work ethic than Groves and the others are mostly there to make up numbers

I expect a groves eubank jnr final

If canelo stops him which I have a sneaky feeling he will do it will almost undoubtedly be in the later rounds. I really think this is going to be one of those "how did that happen" performances

1st breakdown spot on billy joe Saunders wins an easy points decision

Callum smith also through the first round of the super series with a unanimous decision.

Let's hope canelo does what I think he can

so after one split bet (return stake) and one win we are on to tonights fights showing a profit which are much tougher to pick.... and I think the edge is with the underdgogs....

    Joseph Parker (8/11) v Hughie Fury (11/10)

Parker is a current champion with an impressive KO record but to me his record is decieving.

He did not win the record by beating a champion it was a belt vacated by tyson fury where he beat another unbeaten fighter with a pumped up record of nobodys.... he won by majority decision (Hardly convincing)

He travels to manchester tonight in what will be his first time fighting outside of New Zeland.... and his first time fighting in a hostile atmosphere and trust me there is no atmosphere more hostile for a foreign fighter than a full house in manchester packed full off proud gypsys

Hughie Fury is coming off the back of a lay off of more than 1 year where his trainer peter fury said he has been operating at 60%... that being said he still has a impressive 20-0 record. again there are no huge names on there but the overall quality seems to be a little better than parker with some world title challengers on there.

Fury is from a fighting family (we all know his brother Tyson) and just like his brother he is no knockout specialist having dispatched just 50% of his oppnents. He will likely be the most skillfull, slickest fighter parker has faced.

This fight will come down to parker and can he pin him down cut off the ring to let his fists go...

Everything seems to favour fury with the home crowd... can parker travel. I would be highly suprised if fury could knock him out so my pick is fury to win and fury on points as 7/4 seems HUGE!

not such a big write up here....

    Linares vs campbell

Make no mistake linares is world world class... slick

He does get lazy occasionally though and has been beaten 3 times.

Luke campbell is our olympic gold medallist and since losing against a much bigger fighter has got better and better and finally has a world title shot.

Linares gets dropped and has lost all 3 by KO and hit the canas many more times... campbell has fairly heavy hands make no mistake 14kos from 17 wins and is accurate.

Campbell could get completely outclassed... or a lazy Linares could turn up....

But all the value is with campbell and he definitely could stop him....

Snap up campbell at 3/1 and campbell by ko at 6/1....
