What a stupid payout structure, the difference between 8th and 7th is more than the difference between 5th and 4th!

I think you have to be very happy to get your stack in in this spot.

10s are a monster at these stack depths and the payout structure is very flat until top 3.

Also, the only way you don't get a nice immediate £70 ladder is if the shortest stack has the best hand than the 2nd stack has 2nd best and you get dead last.

BUT, maybe I'd be making an ICM mistake, wait for someone else to reply lol

Had to guess the stacks on the other table so may be way off but HRC says call JJ+

    BUT

    1) That's assuming both other players are pushing correctly

    2) As someone above said, you'll ladder anyway a lot of the time

    3) If you ignore ICM, TT is a profitable call in this spot. Thing with ICM is it doesn't model the value you get from being able to push people around when you have a big stack. If you call and win here you have a great shot at the top prizes with the value you get from being able to bully other people.

Apologies in advance, may be worst post ever, am super tired and already bust every tourney I was planning on playing this eve. Done by 9.30pm on a Sunday - must be new record!

hello my friend.dont wish to comment on the way you played this hand but I don't understand why you don't know were you are in the tourney positional wise, ie, 5/8. is it not important to know this at all times?

No problem, I had both tabs open and layout structure so was very keen on position haha!

Thanks for the replies, seems I should have called. I thought I'd be kicking my self calling and seeing over pairs and telling my self " I told you so" lesson learnt. Tens are good in this spot late on. Was playing for final table and then I'd play for win. I was never going to beat tedson anyway hahah

Its a close spot, dont stress it too much. Also you need to think about it in terms of ranges rather than being results orientated.

Yeah okay thankyou. By the way it played out it looked like one villain that shoved had high PP or Ak etc and with the raiser to act behind me I was sure I was beat 3 way. I haven't played many MTT so good learning curve

it is close, shorty min raising UTG - someone shoving 15bigs and comes round to you

    UTG never folding

    so,,,,

I think we call, if we win then we have a great chance to win the tournament.

Yep, going with this, esepcially given the payout strcuture, give yourself the best chance to win, given how top heavy the money is.

You don't have long at all to think and have seen heeps of agression. a raise and a jam.

UTG presumably is strong given where he has opened from. Given all this totally understand why you folded.

It was an interesting HH. At first i thought it was from a BH, and was trying to decide what my calling range would be in this exact position if it was a Bounty Hunter.

Cheers for that. If i was UTG and i min raised and the same guy shoved, i am probably calling with just me and him in pot.
