advice on building up a stack in mid stages of MTT

I'm aiming to become a regular of MTTs now. In terms of BRM I will only be playing those costing £5.50, but the prize pool of these will require me to finish in the upper level if i'm to match what I could make playing nl4p cash.

I can build a stack up at the early stages on an MTT no problem but as it gets towards the mid stage of an MTT my chips will start to drain down because being a regular of semis i'm use to playing as a survivalist rather than chip leader.

I know from live play that the time to steal bilnds is usually when the antis start coming but sky itself doesn't have them so I don't quite know when to start stealing blinds in these.

What ways would you say I can get my stack built up without being over reliant on the easy to play hands?

It completely depends on the table and also on your ability to play down the streets with a range of hands you wouldn't normaly play. People will say about aggression but you need to be aggressive in the right way and with logic and a good thought process.

There isnt an easy answer, a lot of poker is about experience of situations and trying out different things.

You have to pay attention to other players stacks aswell as your own.

Blinds go up so stacks will become shallower, hence why you should be raising more to get some chippies.

Sometimes you may actually have a hand which helps when someone wants to play with you.

Apart from that listen to Master Bates,

Just play in a way that you are comfortable with. You mention MTT's and satelites, of course the two are very different.

For MTT's avoid letting your stack dwindle to much and be aware of how many BBs you have, so when you get to 14BB you don't really want to be opening to wide and then folding.

When you get to 10BBs, really you want to be shoving or folding.

You may also want to shove 14bb from the button versus the blinds. Or you might want to min raise the button. It will depend on your holdings, think about what kind of hands you want to min raise or jam from a 14bb stack, you'll most likely want to min raise AA for example.

When you get to a 20bb stack or higher then you have move room to manouvere, and play through the streets.

Also play Tight and Aggressive to accumulate chips, and retain those chips to put you in the position to make the final table and put you in contention to win.

Looking back at my exit hand in yesterdays mini, i'm starting to question whether it would have been a better option to call the JJ ?

The player himself had been tight for the majority of the tournament only now was he starting to do more raising

Think your overplaying JJ with this effective stack.

3 bet is fine, but you then have to seriously consider the 4 bet range and frankly JJ doesn't do very well
