    Hi Free,

Yes, he played Day 1b yesterday, & sadly, he exited late evening.

He was keeping me updated via Texts - several of my pals were playing, & they were all, as usual (I'm pleased to say) sending me texts, I had nearly 100!

He shared a Table with Sky Poker big-hitter & super-lag Muse 12, who is a good friend of mine. Muse - real name Mohammed Muse, but known as "Mo", did not know who James was, but James knew who Mo was......anyway, James got a 2xup off Mo, but eventually departed.

Also there yesterday was Will Brewin, & Chompy.

One of the Chip Daddies going into Day 2 is Ali Mallu. Now, Ali makes James & Mo look positively tight.....

Yup, James Mitchell, James Sykes & James Keys. Sadly, no James Williams.

You have to trust me on this Free, & James will confirm it when he is back on. Ali Mallu is THE loosest goose ever born.

He's as old as me, too, & has a phenonomal record in Live Tourneys. Look him up on a Poker Database - "Ali Mallu".

He is the original "any two card" merchant, & is unplayable & unreadable.

He & I were in a Festival Final at Blackpool a few years back, & 9 of us - the Final Table - returned for Day Two, which was on a Friday.

We were due to start at 2pm, 8 of us were there, but no Ali.

Then I get a message over the PA - "Mr Kendall, please come to Reception".

I go to Reception, & there's Ali, sitting there - he'd been refused admission!

It turned out that his fist & a dealer's face had come into contact with each other two days earlier in Grosvenor Salford.

It takes 24 hours to confirm a Life Ban, & meanwhile, on the Thursday, Ali had entered this Tourney in Blackpool. And now, on Day Two, when the Final was about to start, they would not let him in, as his Ban had come into effect now!

He wanted me to "vouch for him", but I could not, as I had not been witness to the incident, & anyway, though I get on well with Ali, I don't condone Dealer abuse of any kind.

So, imagine the problem. Final waiting to start, Ali's chips on the Table, & he can't get in......The rest of us argued for an age, what was the "right & proper" thing to do? Should we cut a "saver" for him, 10% maybe, or just "nick" his chips? Should his Chips stay in play? (An "away" player in a Final changes the dynamic dramatically & unfairly on some seats). Quite a to-do. I'll look up the details in a bit.

Ali was NOT allowed in, & got a life ban. Which lasted 9 months. Because he's a very big blackjack & roulette player, see? And every time he won big at poker, guess where he put the money?..... Casinos, like bookies, are not daft, eh?

Yes, but it was a very tricky decision.

The fact was, he'd been allowed to enter the Tourney, paid his £300, so some said it was his right to play on.

But it was also true that the "offence" (the abuse thing) had happened BEFORE the Tourney started, so he should not have been allowed to enter, as a "Banned Member".

The TD had a tough job on. The TD's name was Danny, aka "Yogi-Bear", & Yogi is now Simon Trumper's Assistant TD at DTD. One of THE best TD's in the UK.

He had to rule on a hand which I was involved in in a £1,000 Tourney at Blackpool once. TWO of us got it all in on all all-spade flop, we BOTH had A-Q of Spades! Turned out, there were NINETEEN spades in the pack......Yogi sorted it though, no fuss, no bother, no arguing or hoohah. When Yogi speaks, players listen.

One more quick story fiom the Walsall GUKPT courtsey of another Forum. They'll give me permission to reproduce it, I know they will......

In that top 10, above, you'll see the name "Richard Bean".

Well how about this for an implosion?

It is indeed a very strong Day 2 line up, but perhaps that's cos most of the value got eliminated on the first day. The structure is different this year, with bigger starting stacks, so that will also favour the more skillful players. There is still some value left though, in the shape of Mr Bean, who managed to spectacularly blow up in Bolton last month when sitting on a massive stack. He also repeated this feat in Wednesday's super satellite. He had over 100,000 chips when the average was 15,000 yet still managed to finish 17th, with the top nine getting seats.

Tom Macdonald is an awesome player, very unlucky not to win a biggie at The Vic last year iirc.
