Best of the best? The NBC Heads-Up Championships and Ms. Scott's debut...

One of the most often-heard debates among poker players, journos and fans is "Who is the best poker player?". Of course, there's absolutely no way of resolving it entirely, but if you consider many feel heads-up poker to be the purest form of our beloved game AND the NBC Heads-Up Championships in March has all the best players over there (apart from Mr. Orford - must be some kind of oversight), you'll see why poker fans and writers such as myself get pretty excited about it.

But wait! There's another reason for the Sky Poker folks to get their cheering section hats on: none other than the charming Kara Scott will be making her debut at the tournament this year. As I am sure most of you are aware, Kara was a presenter with us not too long ago and has made great strides as a player in the last couple of years; runner up in the Irish Open, very deep run in the 2009 WSOP Main Event and now the hostess on some other poker show that isn't as good as anything on Sky. But she's doing ok for herself otherwise ;)

So, here's the list of players who are taking part in the championships, and the force that is Sky Dave and Sky Jack even coerced our friends at Sky Bet to put together a market for you to put a couple of quid on your favourite - some decent prices on offer too, in my humble opinion.

Good luck picking a winner out of this lot!

Wow how the heck can you possibly call something like this? Its like the grand national but a thousand times harder.

Durrr at 16/1 and Gavin Smith a longgg shot at 80/1 (as long as he can stay drunk enough ;)

A few bob ew on all the 150/1 shots has gotta be good value in any poker tournament too.

    Im sooo decisive!!

Interesting to see that the ex-baseball pitcher Orel Hershisher is shorter odds than actress Jennifer Tilly.
Also, how come Gabe Kaplan is relatively short odds?

Unlikely, Mere. It's a US channel which puts the show on, but it will be covered pretty extensively through all the usual poker media channels.

Yeah, I know! I would have loved to have seen him in this, but I suspect it's a case that his sponsoring company would have only been given X number of seats maximum. Shame though - think it would have been another good chance for the lad to make a big impression in the US.

I think the problem is that his profile has been drastically lowered ever since you left him off your "Player Of The Year" poll Dave.
He may decide to sue you for loss of earnings.  :-)))

Even if Jesus falls, he'd rise again right? See, I did pay attention to those Religious Studies classes at school!

More seriously, I think Ferguson is a cracking shout for this. I think he's won one and finished second twice - not bad when there's only been five editions of the tournament!
