Morning all.

Boy, that extra hour in bed was needed.

Before we get started on Day 2, it's really nice when people take the time to comment on the Blog, as so many did yesterday, so a quick "thank you". I was unsure whether to do any more, but yesterday went OK, so I'll probably do a few more.

Comments like this really help, too;

"Terrible & badly written blog".

I won't name the author of that though.

    UKOPS XX Event # 6 , £22 entry, £3,000 guarantee Rebuy

    After an all Bounty Hunter Day 1, Day 2 was more of an eclectic mix, starting with a score rebuy.

    Always hard to predict numbers in a rebuy, but it needed 150 entries/rebuys/add-ons.

    The final total was 108 uniques, 81 rebuys & 60 add-ons, so that came to a very healthy £4,980, just shy of 70% above Guarantee. Many thanks to @HAYSIE, @MattBates, Dog Bloke & Groggy who accounted for most of the rebuys, & without whom the Guarantee might have missed.

    Plenty of familiar faces made the money here, including @The_Reflex, @nmongoosez, @johnny_e, @Omm, @HAYSIE (grumpiest person ever to cash in a UKOPS?), @ZIPPY146 & @Itsover4u (both great lads), and, in 9th place, our old mate Sticky Solly. Did I ever tell you he called me with K-J once? I'm not bitter though, in other respects 2009 was a good year for me.

    5 handed, this was playing unusually shallow, with blinds at 5k-10k a blanket would have covered all 5;

    lyonsbob06 141822.84
    thatisfair 131576.50
    Tedson 123306.32
    Sharki0 112623.84
    ChIpSiSbK 108670.50

    So one wrong move was almost certain to be fatal, but those 5 somehow managed to survive for another 40 minutes between them.

    Mention must be made (again) of @Sharki0, who had 2 8th place finishes on Day 1, & ended up 3rd here. We chatted last night, & he told me he won a UKOPS High Roller earlier this year. Quite the player it seems.

    @thatisfair made a spectacular call with his paired deuce on the turn v @TEDSON, but TEDSON's flush draw got there on the river, so 4th place for thatisfair.

    TEDSON - who won a Viva Las Vegas Main Event package this year, eventually finished 2nd.

    Our winner was the immensely profitable Liverpudlian, @lyonsbob06. Bob has won multiple packages to both Las Vegas & Punta Cana with Sky Poker, and his resume also includes a Sunday Major.

    So, a good start to the evening.

    Next up was the Main Event, which failed to beat Guarantee on Day One, but was confidently expected to cover last night.

    Before we move on, a quick quiz for you;

    As I made mention of Punta Cana, this photo was taken on a Sky Poker Punta Cana trip.

    Can you name any of the 5 fine-bodied reprobates pictured?

    UKOPS XX Event # 7 , £110 entry, £15,000 guarantee Freezeout

    On Day 1, only 1 UKOPS affair missed the Guarantee - the Main - & so it proved on Day 2, as well, which came in 9 short at 141 runners, for a £900 hit out of Sky James's wages. Truly, the boy has no idea.

    Minor cashes for @DustoLucko, @devil_tear, Boring Accountant ( @mattprawn ), TOBIE (The Oldest Bloke In Essex, aka @Essexphil ), Sticky Solly in 9th ( & so back to back UKOPS 9th places), & @johnny_e who was the Final Table Bubbler.

    @Bas (6th) looked a very good player to me. Best result on his Sky Poker CV is 5th in the Xmas 2014 UKOPS High Roller. That particular High Roller was won by, remarkably, my old mate @kimpet, (psst, wanna buy a watch mate?) who enjoyed a great Viva Las Vegas trip with us a few years back. Here's kimpet in Las Vegas, presumably standing on a box.

    image

    The superbly named @WelshTruck was 5th, his best ever cash on Sky Poker, and the profitable @gemy, who is a real under the radar GIQ sort, in 4th.

    3rd was @Tony509, who specialises in big Sunday night MTT's on Sky Poker, with wins in PRIMO, Roller & Sunday Major to his credit.

    Runner up was @Mather14, winning slightly less than his previous big cash here, 2nd to @jordz16 in the Sunday Major back in June.

    The winner, @kapowblamz, has shown remarkably improved form of late. After a series of minor cashes down the years, he started October winning £700 - his best ever - in a Bounty Hunter, & then last night eclipsed that by collecting over £4,000 for winning a UKOPS Main Event, as well as one of these super cool Bracelets;

    image

    So that's both the UKOPS Main Events so far have missed Guarantee. Tonight sees a £25,000 Main AND a £25,000 High Roller. I'd clear your desk if I were you Sky James, Monday morning could be awkward when Mardy Sam arrives.

    UKOPS XX Event # 8 , £11 entry, £2,500 guarantee Freezeout

    Many poker sites - & many of the "big" successful players - peddle the line that the most important players on a poker site are the big names, the guys that play high stakes & get the lot. And they ARE important, no doubt about that. Whether they are as important as the little guys, for want of a better expression (no @MattBates puns please) is another matter.

    The Sky Poker Mini just keeps getting the job done, night after night. These guys are really important to Sky Poker, be in no doubt.

    So, Event # 8 was the UKOPS Mini, in effect, and it was 1.01 on the exchanges to beat it's Guarantee. 315 runners meant it came in some 25% above. It's the Volkswagen of Sky Poker MTT's.

    image

    The vagaries & variance of poker are demonstrated here by @lyonsbob06, who won tonight's opener, but bust this one 312th of the 315 runners. Such is tournament poker.

    Another outstanding performance was by @MattBates, (11th). This was his 2nd cash of UKOPS XX, bringing his returns to over £73, from an outlay of less than £800. Well done Sir.

    Continuing the theme of "back to back", @johnny_e who final table bubbled the 8pm Main, repeated the trick here. Not sure whether that makes him lucky or unlucky, but it sure takes some doing.

    @Scottytee was 6th, & the ever consistent @albania 4th. albania (small "a"), you may recall, scooped the Easter UKOPS £30k Main earlier this year for £8,000. Very nice too. I googled him, he's an odd-looking chap.

    image

    Sandwiched between those two in 5th was, err, @iverstiffy. Guess I'm old & losing my sense of humour, as names like that leave me somewhat perplexed. Like mother-in-laws, I guess they are ok in small doses. WP Sir, & don't be frightened to stick up for yourself.

    In 3rd was @luto2512, and the runner-up @d4y0.

    Winner was @AgentAA88 who is a sort of meat & drink Sky Poker regular, with lots of wins in small Bounty Hunters to his credit. This was his biggest win, & his first Sky Poker UKOPS victory too. Delighted for him, love it when these guys bink something decent.

    UKOPS XX Event # 9 , £22 entry, £4,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter

    If I had a quid for every time I've seen "there are too many Bounty Hunters on Sky Poker" I'd be richer than Rich Ricci. Incidentally, was a man ever better-named than Mr Ricci? I doubt it.

    image

    Sky Poker don't particularly want or not want to present Bounty Hunters left right & centre, but there's no getting away from it, the Sky Poker regulars love them, & players come to Sky Poker for no other reason than the BH's. So yes, you get a ton of them here.

    Which brings us nicely to the 4th event of the evening, a £22 BH with a £4k Guarantee. 276 runners meant it crushed the Guarantee by a whopping 38%. If in doubt, make it a Bounty Hunter.

    @Essexphil snuck into the money - how good must he run? - and there was another small cash for @Albania. Mention is overdue for @RogueCell who has started like train in several UKOPS XX events without eventually troubling the judges too much. Her turn will come soon enough. A small cash too for the massively successful @jawzindawz. I don't recall seeing his name in lights so far in UKOPS XX, but watch out for him in tonight's High Roller, as he's one of these;

    image

    @andyffc was 6th, just ahead of @Siscole.

    4th place went to a player who absolutely adores Sky Poker, in fact he swears by them, so well done @BRAHER.

    Long-time Sky Poker regular @cpfc_2010 was on the bottom step of the podium, just below @Don_Logan.

    The winner was another with an interesting alias, but one that I rather like actually, @booobietim. Be honest, when you see a name with "boobie" in it, what's the first thing that comes into your mind? Correct.

    image

    Incidentally, that's called a blue footed booby. Anyone know why?
  • aussie09aussie09 Member Posts: 8,033
    is it because of having blue feet?

  • tomgooduntomgoodun Member Posts: 3,756
    It's 12 inches tall and when it cr*ps on you the air turns blue?

    UKOPS XX Event # 10 , £55 entry, £4,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter

    Another Bounty Hunter, & with 86 runners it got over the line - just - but a Turbo BH at 10pm with a £55 price tag is never going to get across the line with too much to spare. Still, it means, as with yesterday, 4 of the 5 events covered, with just the Main Event putting Sky James before Sam the Headmaster on Monday morning.

    image

    @railtard11 (a big hitter if ever I saw one) & @RogueCell both took a bounty or two, while @Bas cashed again.

    In 6th was @ched4bed, who has won both a Gold Rush & a Sharpshooter, with @SAXONTOM 5th and @DrRunGood 4th.

    @Ash066pts, who won this exact event in the last UKOPS (Easter 2017) was 3rd.

    Remarkably, @Mather14 was runner-up for the 2nd time last night. Whether that's lucky or unlucky depends how you look at these things I guess.

    image

    Top of the pile was @xjawz_786, for far & away his biggest ever Sky Poker score. If he were a racehorse there'd be a Stewards Inquiry, but this is poker, & anything can happen, so well done him. Bet he feels top of the world this morning, & why not?
  • Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 172,247

    BIG night tonight, with £65,500 in UKOPS Guarantees, & back to back £25,000ers, costing £530 & £110 respectively. Is Sky James worried? No chance, he's a cool dude.

    image

    Here's the full schedule;

    UKOPS 11 | £4,000 Bounty Hunter 7pm £22 £4,000 10 3000

    UKOPS 12 | £25,000 High Roller* 7:30pm £530 £25,000 15 10000

    UKOPS 13 | £25,000 Bounty Hunter* 8pm £110 £25,000 12 10000

    UKOPS 14 | £3,500 Mini Bounty Hunter 8.30pm £11 £3,500 10 3000

    UKOPS 15 | £4,000 Bounty Hunter 9pm £22 £4,000 10 3000

    UKOPS 16 | £4,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter 10pm £55 £4,000 7 5000

    Satellites? Oh yes, more than enough.

    If you are playing tonight, the VBOL to you.

    That's a wrap for today, I'm off to watch the South Coast derby on TV, Brighton v Southampton. Who'll win? Brighton, for sure, poker playing owner Tony Bloom is on fire right now. If I were a million behind him, I'd still be a billionaire.

    Really big score for me. 2nd biggest I've ever had in my whole life. I ran like god. Apologies to anyone involved!

    Yet, somehow I'm more stoked about the bracelet. Is that thing on next day delivery or what?

    Lovely job, well done Kap.

    I don't actually know when the bracelets get sent out, but I'll ask Kirsty in the morning, & either she or I will reply on here.

    Really pleased for you, it's so nice when it matters as much as that.

    Don't knock it all in tonight though, right?

    ^^^ With both the mains missing their respective guarantees the last two nights, will any extra sats be put on tonight? No worries if not, but just thought it would help numbers. I am off now to reg for all the AIPF sats to get my 50% discount. No late reg on these yet either btw....shocking.

    Edit - just realised both mains are rebuys tonight, so will probably meet the guarantees at least .
