UKOPS XX - Review of Day 4

Morning all.

A quieter UKOPS session last, with Guarantees at a more modest level after the weekend's excitement. Actually, I should say Sunday's excitement, because as the Guarantees per night show, Saturday is a quieter night. Isn't that an odd thing?

Day 1 = Friday - UKOPS Guarantees totalled £35,000

Day 2 = Saturday, UKOPS Guarantees totalled £28,500

Day 3 = Sunday, UKOPS Guarantees totalled £65,500

Day 4 = Monday, UKOPS Guarantees totalled £30,000

Course, this might be chicken & egg. Would bigger guarantees attract more players on a Saturday? (The answer is, on balance, no).

The level of Guarantees offered are affected by all sorts of weird things - weather, night of the week, time of the month (no no, not that - I mean time of the month relative to payday), what's on TV, big sporting events, & of course, televised Football. Not sure last night's Burnley v Newcastle could ever be used as an excuse though (except by a complete idiot), & much as we all admire Sean Dyche's efforts at Burnley (he should have been named Manager of the Year last year) the fact is who wants to watch Drab Burnley v Drabber Newcastle fight out a 1-0 Drabfest?

image

Tonight & tomorrow, of course, Champions League football returns, & there's also that Halloween thing. These all have to be factored in when setting Guarantees.

The levels of sustainable Guarantees is a fascinating topic, understood by few, maybe it's something we should debate another day.

Anyway, enough waffle for now, let's get on with the review of Day 4.

    UKOPS XX Event # 17 , £22 entry, £4,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter

Standard opening, a £4,000 Guarantee Bounty Hunter is just NEVER gonna miss during UKOPS. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. 232 runners = £4,640, so it covered cosily, 16% above Guarantee.

    Another cash for the impressive @Mather14 - his 3rd of UKOPS XX? - @TheDart broke his duck, @The_Reflex cashed, as did @gac123, @timeforbed, @extraman, & @lundie.

In the Final, @IDONKCALLU crept quietly into 6th place, just behind @nmongoosez & @oldcrock.

Amazingly, Mr Moan It In, @MattBates, completed a very unusual sequence. In consecutive UKOPS events, he has now finished......

    image

What are the odds of that happening? As I noted yesterday, when he runs good he punches well above his not inconsiderable weight.

Runner-up @BigCes added a 2nd to the win he had in the opening night's UKOPS Mini.

The winner, @WIKED, already had three Top Ten UKOPS XX cashes, including a third, so he'll be making a play for the UKOPS Total Player Leaderboard.

    Well done WIKED.

I was going to post a photo of a bottle of WKD to celebrate WIKED's victory, but if I did, I'd be in serious trouble with Compliance, who severely disapprove of linking alcohol (& many other things) to gambling. Don't tell Grumpy Jack though. You would not believe how strict "Compliance" are about all sorts of weird stuff.

    UKOPS XX Event # 18 , £110 entry, £15,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter

Well we KNOW it will beat Guarantee, don't we? It's a Bounty Hunter. Reliable as a Volkswagen. Never miss, bla bla. For the record, 172 runners, needing 150, so around 12% over. That'll do.

This was the Main of course, so everyone was trying that little it harder, & the field was just that bit tougher.

Good to see @darryl1976 cash again, ditto @The_Reflex, @lovejunky and the exceedingly handsome & erudite @devil_tear who is, by the way, just 12 years old. And if Compliance see that remark about his age, even though it's clearly just a bit of fun, I'll be in hot water. The Compliance staff are like Immigration Officers at the Airport, or folk from Yorkshire - don't mess with them, no sense of humour.

And surprise surprise, who popped up in 9th? Mr Ambo, aka @NChanning, cashing for the 2nd night on the bounce.

Here's the Main Man telling us how to play Rebuy Tournaments.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR7CE_jTN_w

When it comes to poker advice, he's well worth listening to, though as an actor, I fancy he'll not be troubling the OSCAR or BAFTA judges any time soon.

    @RyanC7 & @Barrie26 - both top rate players - were 6th & 5th, @jambeyang 4th, and @Lynz89 3rd.

@BooBooTheB - I just love that alias - continued his fine run. Think he's going for the Sky Poker set - he has wins in the Super Roller, Sharpshooter, Marksman & Avenger on his CV. Has anyone won ALL the "named" Tournaments on Sky Poker?

    Amazeballs Corner.

I put "BooBooTheB" into google image search, & it returned only one answer. Guess what that one answer was?

    image

What an amazing thing google is.

The Main Event winner was @lerky. Over 10,000 MTT's on Sky Poker, and this was twice the size of any previous cash. Very nice work lerky, & you also win a Sky Poker UKOPS Bracelet.

And in true Jim Bowen style......

    image

....here's one of those UKOPS bangles everyone wants to win.

    UKOPS XX Event # 19 , £11 entry, £3,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter

Yup, another Mini, another Bounty Hunter, another Guarantee abso blitzed. UKOPS Bounty Hunters just never miss. FACT.

300 runners needed, & 439 of you showed up, so the guarantee was not visible in the rear-view mirror.

I noticed @POKEY2011 amongst the minor cashes, which was good to see. We don't see him on the forum these days but he's a good lad, hails from Bristol I think.

@tomgoodun - yay Tom, wp wp - & dear old Sneddy, aka @SUPERSNEDD just above him.

@adsthepro7 who has been doing those Blogs & Twitchy brooks cashed too, and there was another little bink for @brinna12.

@darryl1976 and @The_Reflex seem to be going along well now, and I noticed the name of @tallboy, a real blast from the past.

@terrytwomore cashed too. I'm not familiar with Terry, but I see he has one of those lovely spinning gold stars on Sharky, so he must be well handy.

6th place went to a great bloke, from the nice side of Scotland (Edinburgh), @glencoelad. George & Mrs George came to Punta Cana with us in 2016 & they rescued me at the airport after my luggage & the courtesy bus went AWOL.

Here's the group photo from Punta Cana that year, can you spot George?

    image

Whoops, course you can't, way too small.

How about this then? We went on a little cruise boat, & George took his fishing gear & came up with this monster catch. He said it weighed 9 lbs. What you reckon?

    image

    @Bujczyk was 5th, @Dumbmo 4th, with @millsylad 3rd.

Runner-up @fozza108 collected nearly £3,600 for winning a Sky Poker Main Event all the way back in 2010. The longevity of players on Sky Poker is amazing.

The winner was @jayvind who collected over £700. I don't know exactly, but that's about 10 times more than he has ever won in an MTT here previously, so very well done. Bet he's got that top of the world feeling this morning.

    UKOPS XX Event # 20 , £22 entry, £4,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter

This - a UKOPS Bounty Hunter - MISSED the guarantee.

    image

    image

Actually, I blame Sky James. So will Sam. Either that or the exciting Burnley-Newcastle goalfest on TV.

Nothing makes a fool of us more than poker, eh?

Anyway, needing 200, only 186 showed up, so a few hundred quid went down the drain there.

    image

Moving swiftly on, @FeelGroggy eventually sprung into action, exactly as he promised, but I fancy the £100 or so he earned in 9th place won't exactly get him out of the UKOPS hole he's in.

@The_Reflex sems to be running into form at the right time, he finished 6th, as is @Barrie26 in 4th, those 2 sandwiching @Curt360x27.

    3rd was @bainy1987 with @AKAscotty - not to be confused with @scotty77 - the runner-up.

Was great to see @memfno take this down though, about time he won something decent, well done The Memf.

Meanwhile, Sky James has been summoned. Oh yes.

    UKOPS XX Event # 21 , £55 entry, £4,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter

This is the Turbo BH, which traditionally closes the UKOPS evenings, and needing 80 to cover it eased over the line with 87. As I keep saying, Bounty Hunters never miss. (T & C's apply).

There were a bounty or two for @Mather14 and @beefheart1, and Final Table bubbler was @WIKED, after his earlier win.

@Pokerden25 was 6th, & guess who sprung into action in 5th, no doubt spurred on by the earlier cash by Groggs?

    image

Yup, @rspca12 is off & running. Well done Chris, now keep it going. Groggs is gonna win the duel though, trust me.

    @Hakurhdhoff was 4th, & @NAILS01197 3rd.

Yesterday, on the "Whatever happened to?" thread, I asked after @Andrew1947, & lo & behold, he popped up last night in 2nd place. Nice one Andrew, good to see you can still cut it at your age.

Here's Andrew1947 after winning SPT Blackpool a good few years ago.

    image

Andrew is a genuinely lovely fella, & I miss seeing him. Has to be said though, if him & Neil Channing ever got in conversation, it might go on for some time. Like, forever.

So that's about it for Day 4 of UKOPS XX, hostilities resume at 7pm tonight.

Tonight, it's sort of Turbo night, with the added sweat of a £220 High Roller at 7.30pm. With Man U & Chelsea both in Champions League action tonight (we won't bother mentioning Celtic), the Guarantees - especially the High Roller - might be a stretch. We shall see.

    UKOPS 22 | £3,000 Turbo Freezeout 7pm £22 £3,000 7 3000

    UKOPS 23 | £15,000 High Roller Freezeout* 7.30pm £220 £15,000 15 10000

    UKOPS 24 | £15,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter 8pm £110 £15,000 7 10000

    UKOPS 25 | £3,000 Mini Turbo Megastack B/Hunter 8.30pm £11 £3,000 7 10000

    UKOPS 26 | £4,000 Bounty Hunter 9pm £22 £4,000 10 3000

    UKOPS 27 | £4,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter 10pm £55 £4,000 7 5000

I will walk through the flames and return this evening however!
